So I guess the National Matches at Camp Perry held every year are just a big nothing burger? Come on! They host one of the biggest matches in the world each year out in Camp Perry and many many many others!

I love the gun community sometimes. So many people bitch about how corrupt our government is. Well the NRA is basically just a lobbying group that pays off politicians. It just pays off the politicians that most here would support. At the end of the day, the NRA is simply a really shitty middle man. They take a huge cut of the money that you should be giving directly to the politicians you support.

The only thing they care about is getting your money. They don’t give a shit about 2A. If they did they wouldn’t have supported a president unilaterally reinterpreting a law that didn’t exist to ban bumpstocks. But alas bumpstocks are banned because Orange man said so. Are they illegal as defined by the law, well....no, but support the NRA? Yea fuck that.

Sadly this isn't historically accurate. As others have pointed out, initially the NRA was an organization of FUDDS that actually advocated for gun control. They were successful in getting some passed. It is a true statement that the NRA has had more gun control laws put on the books on the federal level than ANY of Bloombergs organizations. It wasn't until they realized that they could make A LOT of money off of lobbying did they change their tune.

This isn't a simple situation at all. I would love to see Wayne&co cut out of the NRA, I think they're grifters pawning off our rights. Every so often they throw us a bone and tell us to be greatful that the left didn't take more.

It's certainly politically motivated and regardless of the guilt of the NRA I hope they clean her clock. I'd start out by doing my best to force her office to recuse due to her bias.

The major victories over the last 15ish years have been other groups like the FPC, SAF and state orgs. The NRA has hitched their wagons to a few but have they really kept the ball moving?

I will say I am thankful that they serve the purpose of being a target for the left. Heaven help us when they figure out that there are other gun rights orgs that actually do meaningful work.

Best case scenario to me is only minor disruption of the NRA's election work, getting the AG who started this crap what she deserves via the counter suit, a rallying cry for the right in the next election and Wayne/friends to go away for good after the election leaving a reformed, stronger NRA.

Did you even read the filing? The people running the NRA are corrupt, have squandered money (blowing it on themselves), and have built their upper ranks with people who operate this way. The whole organization is run by these people, it's not like it's a random guy in accounting. They've broken the law, and are violating the terms of operating as a non-profit. If there are other gun-rights organizations (which I'd argue the NRA hasn't been in decades) that are operating as non-profits and committing crimes, then I sure as hell hope people go after them. Same as I would any other non-profit organization, I don't care if it's the Girl Scouts or otherwise. I have no insight into whether the investigation was politically motivated or not, but it really doesn't matter, they shouldn't have been breaking the law, and violating non-profit requirements.

It's a lot like the body; You smoke, drink, don't exercise, and eat crappy food you're a lot more likely to have health issues. It already has been before the courts for Maryland, and it was upheld. That law went into effect in 2012. And by the way, the NRA was not involved in that case.

Yes, it appears you are correct. The Maryland magazine ban was heard, and upheld by the 4th US Circuit Court of Appeals. They ruled it constitutional.

So, we have the 9th and 4th circuits ruling opposite on an issue. From here, CA will probably request an en-banq review from the full panel of 13 9th circuit judges.

If it does't get reversed there, the US Supreme Court will have to hear it. That'll be a 4 to 4 decision, with John Roberts casting tie breaking vote. It should be interesting.

With any luck, perhaps Ginsburg will shit the bead ASAP.
