Newcon rangefinder

I just saw a positive one on a 2000m monocular range finder. Guy said it did what it was supposed to do and that he liked it a lot better than the Leica he had that cost the same but only went half as far. I'm guessing he got one of the lower end monoculars from Newcon too.
I've been considering the 4000m binocular model. That's their smallest bino and I need 3500m so that is perfect I guess. It does all kinds of other shit, but would replace my binos of the same power as well as a LRF and GPS (I think this one has GPS connection, I forget). I'll be getting a .50/.375CT soon, and next year I'd like to push it as far as I can and that'll help, along with a ballistics computer or my trusty Ti-89. But it's $4000, so it may have to wait a while, and at that price I want to be able to either have an inspection period or be able to buy it sight seen, FTF.
Newcon also makes those rangefinders that go what, 30km+? AND determine your GPS location as well as the target you just lazed? Direction and speed? These look bad ass, and I'm pretty sure I've seen US soldiers using their highest end model in some clip I saw a while back, it looks a lot like the MELIOS. They can't exactly be making junk.
I have heard mixed reviews, but very few either way, on their lasers. They have one that is similar in specs to a PEQ-2A but smaller. I'd like to try it out, but again, with some kind of grace period to return if I don't like it. I'm interested in some of their gear, if you get the LRF let us know how it works out.

Thanks, good to know. I just want something that will be fairly reliable out to 1000 that wont break the bank. Something to help varify ranges.
For the money (around $700) you can get a used Swaro LRF that has a lifetime warranty. They work well to 1600/1800+ but only does ranging and reticle/numbers are illuminated.
I have the LRB 3000 PRO Binos & with respects to simply ranging they do a great job; however.... They have simply fallen apart from use. Here are the issues with the Binos that I have:
Internally
1) The glass is less than great. One ocular has a very green tint to it & the other ocular is very hazy. I think that most optic snobs would say the glass flat out sucks!
2) There are either dust particles or things have broken down over time inside the unit & these particles have become stuck to the lenses. So not only is the glass marginal at best, but now it has debris stuck to the inside of the glass
Externally
1) The adjustable diopter is no longer adjustable, I am not sure what caused the diopter to seize; however, it can no longer be adjusted.
2) they use some sort of rubbery gasket on a couple of external pieces & they have melted and are no longer effective. In fact the unit has become gooey on a couple of places.
Additionally, I contacted Newcon on 4 different occasions to try to get them my unit refurbished/repaired. The first call I had to leave a message (which was never returned), my second contact I sent an email (which was never returned). The third time I called I spoke with a receptionist who transferred me to the person I needed to speak to; however, he only spoke French & had no clue what I was trying to ask him. The only thing I did understand was that he said that I would need to call back. My forth call I left a detailed message on the general voice mail stating what I was looking to do & wanted someone to either call or email me so I could get my unit repaired & never heard back. I finally gave up & decided to use them as they were. I now either use my Terrapin or my Swaro rangefinding binos.
For all the things the Newcons are not - they do seem to range very effectively & at ranges close to what they advertise.

That's a good reveiw. Makes me leary to deal w/ the French..... Maybe I'll save a little more and look into the swaro.

The 12,000m model, the new one, that has all the gadgets and a 3 axis compass and built in GPS. It also claims to be milspec where the 3000 and 4000 are not. But these all go for about $1 per meter regardless of model, so if you wanted the milspec version, which I'm sure is better built, it will run $12,000 or so --and you'll never need that much range for shooting, so way overkill, too costly. Unless you have need for shooting longer ranges for whatever reasons I guess...

It happens to me a lot, I have bad luck in general. Plus if this place is in Quebec or near there, then yeah, French is gonna be their language most likely. ^This is the one I have... sorry for any confusion. Any way I got it from EuroOpt and for the price its great. Not trying to push them I just have used a vast amount of LRF's and haven't found one that makes me want to pay the money expect the Terra-Pin.
FWIW When I thought I lost these range finders I was looking around and continued to come to the conclusion that I was going to order the same pair due to field function/durability ect ect. I mean damn, they were left outside, on the face of a mountain in a snow storm for 3 weeks... When I went back the were still on that same stump. Dried it out, new battery and they work great.
