I'll try and take some photos this weekend of our 1000 yard F-Class shoot.

I moved to Australia last November and have been shooting F-Class with a 30-06 Tikka T3 Varmint and a Trijicon 5-20x50 scope since I got here. The 30-06 shoots amazing, but since I am already handi-capped by the F-Open group, I might as well shoot a higher BC round. The 168 Bergers work really well and I have a lot of 5 shot .320 of an inch 100 meter groups. The 180-220 type bullets I really bought the rifle for don't shoot. Changed powders, used the IDLM work up method and went through about 100 variables trying to make the round peg fit the square hole.

Decided to order a Krieger 6.5 1 in 8 barrel, (I think it was a number 8 contour)not 100% positive.

Also working out stocks. I bought a laminate blank, and then sold it to a buddy of mine, when I found out Robertson composite was making Tikka T3 stocks. Then I found out it would be a pain in the ass to get one here so I sodded that idea. I'd shoot a wild dog, but the bastard wants $400 more than Manners or McMillan, so I am probably going to bite down on a Manners T-4 in the next couple weeks.

I bought 400 139 Lapua Scenar projectiles, and ordered 200 rounds of 6.5x47 Brass. Hopefully I can get a X-Treme trigger for the rifle after I get it put together.

My biggest question now is weather to switch to the AICS short action CDI bottom metal and buy new mags, or keep the plastic until I figure out if I am going to reinstall the 30-06 barrel later. I wish someone would make a long action AICS system for the Tikka T3.

How so?

The 6.5x47 is more than capable at that distance.

99% of our shoots are 300-800 yards. 1000 yard shoots are only a couple times a year.

6.5x47 will do fine. 99% of the other comps are shooting 6mm BR, 308, or 223.

Also has to be a hunting rifle, just based on my ability or inability to get it back to old Glory.

Muskox,

If you are interested in LA Tikka DBM, contact Jeff at CDI. He's been telling me for over a year that all he has to do is finish the prototyping and he will have a product, but I guess he doesn't think there's enough demand.

I think most people underestimate just how popular this rifle is.

I would also buy a CDI LA Tikka T3 bottom metal in a heart beat if there was one. Please Jeff..?
