I just recently retired from the U.S. Navy after 22 years of service and I'm looking forward to getting into long rang shooting. I grew up hunting deer in WV, but due to my schedule over the past 22 years I haven't been able to go much. Now that I'm retired and get to come home every night I finally have the time to pursue some things I've had to put off. Any advice on what rifle, scope, and equipment to look at would be greatly appreciated. Right now I'm leaning towards a Ruger RPR, 6.5 Creed with a Vortex Viper HST 6-24x50 Scope. I'm looking to start out with max 1,000 yds and work my way up without breaking my bank. I also plan on using this setup to hunt with. Thanks.
