Next Gen rangefinder

This is a sneak preview of the next generation of tactical rangefinders as well as an unusual opportunity to view a piece of technology pre-market. In exchange, we ask only for some thoughts and discussion from those who matter most.

Looks promising, nice to have an instant and accurate target marker(distance&location) which can be recalled during movement, always quicker and more accurate than target/waypoint marking based off of terrain association. Used similar stuff in the military but it costs a ton, hopefully this one will be somewhat obtainable!

Based on current products that would be an expensive piece. LRF, GPS and all rolled into an Optic......

I really like the idea, but am guessing this isn't going to be cheap...

Terrain will kill this thing. Its not doing anything more than taking a GPS coordinate, comparing it to a compass heading and LRF reading to basically compute your destination "waypoint". Once you add in terrain issues and inclination/declination for mountainous terrain, this thing goes out the window. Now... If it tied into a handheld GPS/Phone GPS via bluetooth, that would be more useful. You wouldnt have to always look through the glass which would surely be magnified also causing disorientation and its own set of issues. You could see your current loation on the map, see the location of your intended target on the map, and then plot a useful solution for getting there taking terrain and potential boundaries into account.

If this thing shows the marked coordinates(MGRS orLL) you could then just input that into your Garmin and use whatever map you have loaded on that for ease of navigation. I don't think this thing is trying to replace a GPS.
