Rifle Scopes NF 2.5-10x24... Am I missing something?

I had a 2.5-10x24, I didn't dislike it but it was nothing special. If anything it had a tight eyebox on the top end because of the small exit pupil. I've had 2.5-10x32's and the exit pupil was better and function wise no different and was just as compact. Bolt handle to eyepiece clearance was still the issue, not the objective, and on an AR nothing under 50MM is ever a problem because it needs to be monted high enough to get a cheek weld anyway.

I see people looking for these all the time and when they come along they are way overpriced. So am I missing something? Is there anything special about these other than the fact they're only made for the military now?

How is the reliability any different than that of their 2.5-10x32? I've have both side by side and the weight is nearly the same as is the length.

I'm not even sure how we got on the topic of POS PST's as those aren't even comparable and not what I'm asking about. I want to know specifically what makes people want the 2.5-10x24 NF over the 2.5-10x32 or 2.5-10x24.

Part of the issue is that the 24mm version isn't sold anymore to the public. So there is a supply and demand issue causing the price to be higher than you would think. Besides it looking more compact and smaller, I don't think there are any advantages to the 24mm version vs the 32 or 42mm version. I have the 32mm version and have no complaints. I have it on my scar 17, and bought it before the 42mm version was available. If I were buying now, I would get the 42mm version because it has parallax adjustment...not always needed in a 10 max power scope but nice to have.

Too many people out there that don't understand how optics work.

On another board someone said the 24 was the best because "people who kill people use it." Same board you will never find the word tracking in a discussion about a scope or FOV for that matter.

Rather than act like an ass, read to what he said. He was giving an example of why people might spend more money. I don't see how acting like a brat makes people want to respond to your posts. The answer here is a rather simple one, so I'll keep it that way so you can hopefully both comprehend it, as well as not get upset again for someone DARING to go, what you consider, off topic.

Simple economics. Supply and demand. The supply is limited, people want them, therefore, pay attention here, if you have one, you can command a higher price than what they originally sold for. It's that simple.

Hopefully that was on topic enough for you.

I just read what DFOOSKING said and it made total sense to me.

To me it sounded like, it's a Nightforce and it's built to last, so that commands a higher price.

It's rare to hear about a Nightforce scope going down whereas you hear about Vortex going down all the time.

To answer your question about the 2.5-10x24mm though... from my limited knowledge, it came first. It was the original one used by spec ops.

Some people love that stuff. Same reason some folks go out of their way to build an SPR as close as possible to the one used by the spec ops community.

I think that would be the only reason I can think of, because the 2.5-10x32mm was the answer to the problem the 2.5-10x24mm had... small exit pupil.

Personally I can see no advantage to the 24mm version over the 32mm version. I owed the 32mm version and the scope is really small. Just can't see how one would complain bout it's size or weight.
