I put a NF 3.5-15X56 with the NP-R1 reticle on my wifes AR a few months back. I've always run Leupy's on my stuff will Mil-Dots but wanted to try a NF. Anyway, for my 47 year old eyes, I really have a hard time with the very fine reticle on the NF. I tend to lose it in background vegetation, clutter, etc. Have any of you guys experienced or noticed this?

did you set it up and focus it per the instruction manual ? that does help.

I have the NXS 8-32x56 with an NP-R1 reticle that I purchased specifically for F-class. For that purpose, I wanted a finer reticle and it's fantastic IMO. However, you're right about it being fairly fine (line thickness = .062 MOA @ 15X). I don't think it would work too well for me for general shooting purposes.
I also have an 3.5-15x50 F1 with the MLR2 reticle on a different rifle. Compared to the MLR reticle (line thickness = .13 MOA @ 15X), the MLR2 has a line thickness of 0.16 MOA @ 15X. I had the same issue as you even with the MLR reticle for general shooting purposes. For my (older) eyes, I find the MLR2 to be just about the perfect balance of line thickness without being too heavy.

Yes, the NPR 1 is too fine in the 3-15. I took mine out into a forested background and had a hard time finding the reticle, it was sold the next week. If I were to get another sfp 3-15 it would be a Mildot with mil adjustments. In a 5-22 the NPR-1 works great, it shows up pretty good.
You should take look at an F1 3-15, both the NPRF1 and MLR 2 reticles show up very nicely ( especially the newer version of the MLR 2, NF is calling it the MLR2.0 ). They are bold enough to use for low light shooting/ hunting.

I spent a considerable amount of time focusing the reticle as per the manual. I'm glad that others noticed it as well. I have to purchase optics for my new GAP10, so I might try the 5-22 or the NPRF-1. Thanks for the feedback.

The NF illumination cannot be field adjusted. When I set the illumination up bright enough to see for daylight brush shooting, it is way to bright for night shooting. And who wants to be dependant on batteries!! Believe me Alaskaman11, the last thing I wanted to admit is I bought an $1800 scope that did not work for me! I tried adjusting everything before giving up and going with a different reticle.
In my opinion there are much better choices (MLR, Mil Dot, MLR 2 and NPRF-1 just to name a few).
*BTW, the npr1 is very usable in the 5-22 scope, unlike the 3-15

i like the NPR2 for moa and the MLR for mil easy to read!!
had the NPR1 and just felt it was too cluttered for my mind.

We don't shoot much here in the summer, but when we do, alot of vegetation, foilage, etc...(east coast). In the winter, it's a barren, wind blown, frozen lanscape, and I didn't seem to have the issues with the NPR1 late last winter (western US). Again, thanks for the input. I spent some time with it this afternoon, "fine tuning" the reticle focus, and it's going to the range tomorrow, so we'll see how it goes.
