Question:

I purchased a used NF NXS with Zero Stop, how do I return this scope to the centered "factory setting" to start adjustment for my rifle/load/zero?

I watched the video by 8541 Tactical and the NightForce video, both addressed setting the zs after initial adjustment but not how to return to the factory setting.

I tried the search function with no joy. If this has been already covered you can just post the link. Sorry if I missed it.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Chet

Re: NF NXS Zero Stop

Unlock the zero stop. Turn the turret all the way down to mechanical stop. Now turn it all the up to mechanical stop while counting revolutions. Go back half and that should be centered on reticule adjustment. Thats how I have centered up scopes in the past. I don't own a NF (YET) but i think that would hold true for most any scope. Someone else may chime in with better/different info so this ain't gospel.

That's what I do with my optics to re-center them.

Re: NF NXS Zero Stop

Maybe I'm missing something, but re-centering the optic won't necessarily be anywhere close to aligned with the bore, so why wouldn't you just boresight it and then adjust zero as necessary when and as you get your load(s) developed?

Re: NF NXS Zero Stop

Won't the zero point end up at the same place regardless of where you start from?
I can see how it would matter with bases and rings that are adjustable, such as the Leupold bases with the turn-in front ring and the windage-adjustable back ring, but not on a non-adjustable system, such as Seekins for example.

I think flyrodder's suggestion about bore sighting would be the best idea.

This, especially if you have a canted base of any variety.
