I had a lower engraved at House of Blades earlier this morning and they did excellent work. There was a little confusion initially but that got sorted out quickly and all was well. The engraver brought out an example of the work before starting on the lower and I really appreciated that. A few pointers if you want to use HofB for engraving:
    1. Call and make an appointment rather than just showing up. One reason is that you have to stay there while the work is being done.
    2. The people working in the store are all young and suffer from direct-person-discomfort so be patient. They try really hard and things get sorted out.
The engraving took about 30 minutes and the price was pretty standard for that work.

House of Blades does an exceptionally good job, they have also done several for me, Matt and his crew are awesome folks.

Thanks I was considering them. How far do you have to break the rifle down?
I just took in the stripped lower. I can’t answer your question because I don’t know how big a piece of hardware they can secure in the engraver. Give them a call, they would be happy to field the question.

Can anybody post some example pictures? I've had engraving done many times before, a little deeper than specified to account for cerakote. The lettering is relatively thin, which means if you rub your finger over it (or a paper towel) debris will get trapped inside. I'm curious how other people are engraving, perhaps using wider cuts to avoid this? Or just not worrying about it?

    Example (without debris):

If you are willing to ship, these guys do great work. You can have it done inside the magwell lip so it is almost like it isn't even there. You just ship them the complete lower so no disassembly/re-assembly is necessary.

The entire objective of this thread was to not ship a part for engraving for fellows living in the DFW area.

I know I am reviving a rather ancient thread, but I had House of Blades engrave a receiver yesterday and they did an excellent job. Quick work, precise and they were nice enough to deal with. Thumbs up for them.
