Nickel Plated Brass in Precision Rifle...?

Has anyone ever run nickel plated brass in their precision rifle? I have heard all kinds of crazy things about this type of ammo, including that it causes excess barrel wear. Does anyone know if there is any truth to that? Any problems running it then going back to reg brass?

the only downsides se that i have come across is reloading nicole plated brass. neck tends to split sometimes around 10 or so reloads. it's just plated mainly for corossion resistance, but other than that i see no benefit. maybe you like shiny things, or you can find your own brass easier.

Used to use it in a 25.06 ai I had years ago,and a buddy of mine had a custom 7 R.E.M. Mag built a fe weeks ago,he had several boxes of factory win ammo I burnt one up and used that brass for load development for him and as was stated earlier only thing wrong was brass necks started to split between 7-8 firings so I have no problem with it.

I used to use it. My problem was that it would flake off bad when you would trim it.

I have used it and would do it again. I got it for nothing in a less available chambering (.280 Rem) and used it exactly as I would non-plated brass.

That usage depends heavily on careful attention to headspace (bolt drag on bolt closure), and load limitations (not hot loading) which may help in curtailing brass growth.

Brass will serve you are well as you treat it.

I used to seek it out for my Wichita pistol which is essentially a bench rest rifle with no stock.
Never a problem with it and no differences in treatment for reloading. This was 308. I started with the stuff and reloaded at least 10 times, maybe more with no problems. Neck trimming was easy with a sharp bit and never caused any flaking. The stuff shot well and I wasn't about to change. I did keep the plated brass separated from other 308 rifles I had but i do that as a routine anyway.

I was given some nickel brass for my 22-250. It shoots sub-half moa with it but I can't get it to shoot with regular brass. All you can do is try it and see how it does.
