Pretty sad day for motorcycle race fans from all venues. Apparently died in a cycling accident abroad. Not always at the top, but not from an absence of effort. He will surely be missed.
Met him several times when he was racing AMA here. Good guy. Pathetic way to die for a MotoGP racer. Runs 200 mph on the track and gets killed by some ass in a car. RIP Nicky.
Seems he was training for WSB race season, when hit. Many may not realize how many miles those that do train on a road bike put in in the weeks between races. 400+ not unusual. I have no doubt he rode a road bike with the same drive he put into every race he entered. He leaves a big gap on the starting grid. Hayden's are a pretty tight family-wish them the best.
Yeah, this sucks. Great racer, great ambassador, great human.
He was hit last week and succumbed today. If you want to know a bit about him, Julian Ryder did a write up that's on superbikeplanet.com. It really captures what kind of racer/man he was.
R.I.P. #69
No one had a stronger work ethic, better sportsmanship, or more class. We lost a great one. He was the perfect role model in every way. RIP Kentucky Kid.
Sure makes you think. Life is short. Crazy that he died on two wheels of a different kind. God is certainty ironic. Nicky was an amazing competitor. God bless him and his family.
