Hello all,
Killing time while holed up at the ranch and staying away from people. Not much fun but certainly getting some well needed chores and jobs done.
Several years ago when I began to get into night hunting of hogs and coyotes I purchased both a thermal scope for one rifle setup and an IR viewer to fit in front of a daytime scope on another rifle. Both options have worked well for me but i do truly enjoy archery hunting for hogs more challenging and fun. I tried various push button lights to attach onto my compound bow and optional light to mount above the daylight scope on my crossbow. Then I had an idea! I took my crossbow to my local gunsmith and asked if he could cut a custom length rail for it so that the IR viewer would fit in front of the daylight scope. A few weeks later he called and Ta Da!! Combined with an IR illuminator on top this is just the most slick setup for very quiet shooting while seated at a feeder. IT also works very well on coyotes when hunting over a previously killed hog carcass. But you can not have the viewer on the rail and go bouncing around on an ATV.
