Trying to decide on the optics for a m110 sass clone that Jered and APA are building for me right now.

Have two more of the swfa ss 5-20 coming in, one of which h was slated for this rifle. Bought. Sako Trg recently and figured the glass would fit better for that rifle so now have to figure out what should go on this.

Thinking of two different optics right now, either something in the 2-10 or 2-12 power from Nightforce or IOR to keep the weight down and size small, or the new hdmr with the new GAP ret that is coming out. I like the hdmr as the ret is simpler and cleaner than the hourus, but allows for similar shot correction speed and multipul Target engagment rapidly at different distances without having to dial .

Reason I am stuck is I don't know if the power range is to great for this type of rifle, meaning would I ever use it fully, and would be giving up field of view to get a top end I wouldn't use.

Any input, or thoughts on what rout to take? I have obr mounts for both 30 and 34 mm tubes, with both 0 and 20 moa built in so mounting is not an issue with either.

Hdmr. But I'm biased

Yu can never have enough magnification? Especially when it starts at less than 4! Lol

I just got my NF 2.5-10x32 mil/mil in and I love it! I replaced my Leupold 2.5-8 MK 4. I noticed a huge difference right away in the clarity between the two. I have the NF 2.5-10 on my 5.56 SPR, I built it for distances of 10-700 yards and it is filling that role very nicely.

I have a FF 3.5-15x50 F1 on my .308 AR 10 that I shoot out to 1,100 yards and the magnification is perfect for that.

At work we have 10x Leupolds on our SR25s that we shoot out to 1,000. I personally feel that magnification is a little too low for me at those distances to really ID a target, while other guys are very comfortable with them.

I think it will depend on what ranges and type of shooting you are planning on doing.

I now own both scopes mentioned

Just mounted up the HDMR 1/2 hour ago.

NF 2.5-10 is 19 oz.HDMR is 35.2 oz so if weight is a concern then...

SFP or FFP ???. NF-SFP has the velocity reticles which works better than I thought it would, especially with a little tuning of sight in distance. It's gotta be on 10X to take advantage of the holdovers though.Near perfect scope for a lightweight AR.I'm usually a FFP guy but I like dialing down to 2.5x for close shots and viewing the reticle in full size.I don't miss having a side focus on it.It's nice to have a simple scope once in a while. It has one thing I view as a fault,no indicators for how many revs are dialed on

It does have a zero stop though.

The HDMR is one solid scope.I haven't found anything I dislike about it...yet.Time will tell.I'm more impressed with it than I thought I would be before handling one.The glass is right there with my IOR 6-24x56 FFP.Actually I could resolve a tad bit better with the HDMR but the IOR showed colors better. That's saying something about the glass quality in the HDMR because the glass in the IOR is a step up in comparison to my old NF 5.5-22x56.
