Join the contest SubscribeReally? Yes it's expensive, but lets look at the standard NXS line. This is NF's bread and butter line, when you upgrade to FF which is the NXS F1 you pay $2400 for FF that makes it a $500 option. So NF is targeting hunters with this 2.5-10x42, how many hunters are willing to pay $2400 compared to $1700(1800msrp). A lot more willing to spend $1500-1700 on a scope for hunting then $2000-2500. The other seller for this scope is its weight, that's my biggest complaint with NF for hunting. My NXS 5.5-22 are very heavy! It's not a scope I'm going to put on my 8lb rifle. This 2.5-10 @ 20oz is perfect match for an average sporter weight rifle. Now add FF and even 34mm like some want and now your over 30oz and they just lost my sale because I might as well buy a 3.5-15x50 that weighs 30oz. It's a scope that fills a huge market that they were missing. If your hell bent on FF just get the 3.5-15 F1.
i have to say that i have been more and more underwhelmed with NG this year.
cant really get into a SFP scopes anymore, not having a usable recitcle at all powers is a big turn off for me, and while you can do the math to use it SFPs at different powers, its not really practical.
Indeed. I'm really digging the new SWFA 1-6X FFP I've got on my go-to 5.56 carbine. At 1X it's a big, fat, red CQB donut, and at 6X (or 4X, or 2.645X) it's a ranging mil reticle. And I do appreciate not having to range at a single magnification when using my 3.5-15X mil/mil optic.
First Focal on a 10x hunting scope is wasted money, your going to pay out the ass for this feature and rarely use it. On any shot past 200 yards your going to be on 10x. Any shot under 200yds your not going to need to mil or hold wind drift for that close of a shot to need your mils or moa. I can't think of any reason in a hunting scenario that justifies it.
If they were marketing this towards close quarter combat and offered it at 1x then it makes sense, at 1x the reticle is very small and acts like a red dot optic, dial up for longer engagements.

^^ This
Unless you've got amazing vision...your not measuring shit under 5X. Your gonna be quartering that object and let'en her buck!
Your measuring on 10X or half powering this (likely scamming the system for more hold).
Love the NF zero stop...wish that was on there for that much $$$.
Die hard FFP guy here.
^ These are the reasons why I kept my NF 2.5-10, didn't see the need for FFP for this kind of optic. It's nice to have the reticle full size on the lower powers too for a change. Mine has the LV600 reticle, with a little bit of load tuning and sight in distance tuning the holdovers work great.
Super snipers are some damn good scopes, a friend brought the new 3-15 FFP this morning and i have to say that honestly its glass is as good as if not better than any of my previous five NF's, very impressive for 600 bucks.
NF 2.5-10x42 just showed up...
Any idea on availability?
Damn LL, dick move, just kidding, i cant wait to hear what you think of it, especially the illumination.Yes, I have it now, in my hand, it showed up today, so for me, it is available![]()

Midway will allow you to back order one with a mil-r.
Lowlight claims his sample has the Mil-R reticle, yet Nightforce doesn't show that option on their website.
I sure hope there is more to the story, as a lack of a mil-hash reticle is the only thing keeping me from buying this scope.
Nightforce, are you listening? Nothing wrong with the MLR reticle either . . .
I'm going to guess it is mounted on a rifle and he used his phone camera to get the pictures. Which would make him have to hold it sideways to clear the cheek piece.

Is there any chance you'd be willing to do a comparison review with the Vortex 2.5-10x32 Viper PST?
The closest thing I have to compare it too here is a NF 2.5-10x24
I really don't have anything 10x here
Other than the illumination features what do you feel the 42 gves you over the 24.
