Rifle Scopes nightforce bench rest scope help

Re: nightforce bench rest scope help

taken from website Rthur directed you to:

The NP-1RR reticle is a ranging reticle, best suited for varmint and long-range applications. This easy-to-use reticle will enhance a shooter’s ranging abilities and long-range accuracy.
MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

• Easy ranging of the target in the field with no mathematical calculations.
• Quick and accurate compensation for wind drift and bullet drop.

The NP1-RR ranging scale works on the principle of known size of the target in inches. Targets are framed inside the circular elements of the reticle to quickly estimate the range of a target.

Examples:
• Deer average 18–20 inches from brisket to shoulder.
• Coyotes average 18–20 inches in height.
• Fox average 10–12 inches in height.
• Prairie dogs average 9–10 inches standing.

The ranging scale remains effective in the field even with small variances in target size.

Re: nightforce bench rest scope help

Now tell me where the instructions are you just posted. How to use the reticle.Ive read what the post from night force you posted said, but it doesent tell you how far is this line to base line, how far the horizontal line for windage is ect.If i remember right if base line to top line you can get a 3 foot target in is 300 yards, what about the other marks in the scope.Theres a lot of different things in the scope to consider.

Re: nightforce bench rest scope help

I have 2 NF BR scopes with this reticle. I went through the same thing at first, searching for more info on the reticle. I found the link that leagle posted, printed off the reticle from the NF website and sat down with a pen and wrote on the print out what the values were. Then, just a lot of practice shooting.

Re: nightforce bench rest scope help

If you got the booklet that came with the scope it should have all of the info. All of the ranging is done at 22X

The circles = 9 inches
All of the targeting dots are spaced at 4MOA
The Height from the bottom line to the ranging lines is 18 inches
It is 15MOA between the horizontal line and the line below the ranging steps
it is 20 MOA from the horizontal line to the lower dot below the ranging steps
