Re: nightforce markup??

1,123% on the Benchrest models...2,246% on the NXS models!

And if you buy that, I've got a bridge or two on the market you might be interested in!! I'll even cut you a helluva deal off my usual dealer markup!!

Re: nightforce markup??

i just bought a nsx from sportsoptics.com. i got a good deal, give them a call. nf dictates the prices on their scopes. (thats why all the prices from 5 different stores are all the same.)

Re: nightforce markup??

NightForce has MAP guidelines. Most places online sell them for the same amount. The markup is what it is, and you will likely not see any discounting unless dealers decide to take a hit out of their own profits for them (which to my understand are not that significant). NF will not offer discounting on their optics to individuals, only to agencies.
The only people that will know the full amount of mark-up is likely NF and the dealers, and neither of them are going to disclose that information because it's usually not something they can disclose.

Re: nightforce markup??

the reason I ask is I have an FFL and a business license and honestly I don't pay full price for anything I don't have to. if you figure 3% in CC fees someone said 12-16% ummm I don't believe its that little. because that isn't much profit for a scope with that much money tied up in it, and that could sit for a couple months. I would say there is at least 20% but I am guessing.

Re: nightforce markup??

Businesses are run on margin, not markup.

Markup = (price - cost)/cost. As cost approaches zero, markup approaches infinity - a ridiculous number.

Margin = (price - cost)/price. As cost approaches zero, margin approaches 1, or 100%. Margin will always be between 0% and 100%.

Generally (generally) a retail business will run well on approx. 30% margins.

I agree completely. Some guys are hungry and probably happy to get the business. I'm just venting a bit from the business owner standpoint. We just got our quarterly tax payment update for the year and I choked. I just think it would suck for the storefront guys to have to compete with the "home garage shop online" guys if this type of haggling becomes the norm. Capitalism though I guess. </div></div>

Agreed,

I wonder how the storefront guys make it at all with the advent of online shopping. I haven't purchased anything tactical/ gun related at a brick and mortar store in years.

Re: nightforce markup??

I just sold one of my AR's to the shop I do business with all the time, for 600 bucks. Did he rob me? Not in my mind, he is right on top of crap for me. When I call, he sends his FFL to some stranger I have no clue is, handles shipping for me, only charges me what UPS costs (his time and labor not included!). If I have a problem, he handles me super fast, no he is not brown nosing, I am thankful to have an honest dealer (not NF mind you talking guns).

Running a business sucks, its hard, people are willing to rip you off at a moments notice, and everyone is a freaking uber super duper best shot ever. And you have to listen to their bullshit stories all day long.

You argue over peanuts, you are going to end up getting charged an elephant.
