Looking at this reticle on a Beast to top my Tac Ops X Ray 51. Is the .04 reticle thickness an issue for precision shooting? Also, looking at P4f which is .035 but concerned that may be too thin for duty use.

.04mr equates to .137moa

Much thinner than that and the reticle startys to become unusable at lower magnifications. FFP reticles always seem to be a compromise. A reticle that is easily visible on lower magnification is too thick on max magnification and vice versa and definitely gets more difficult with higher mag ratios.

The MIL-R was optimized for field/tactical use and to be usable throughout the mag range as much as possible.

I was asking if people with experience on a reticle of .04 thought it was too thick for precision shooting? Looking for a balance of precision of duty use

I think .04mrad is the best all around compromise for a 5-25 FFP. Thinner is better for group shooting at high mags, and thicker is better for positional shooting and other low-mag uses, but .04 is a good compromise for both.

Or you could do what they did in the G2 and make the center part (between the half mil marks) a little thinner (0.03mil in the G2) so that you have a finer crosshair at maximum magnification, and have the rest of the crosshair thicker (0.06mil in the G2) so that its still usable at lower magnification.

Thats one example of how an FFP reticle can be designed to work well oner the manification range, there are other ways to do it.

Twisted fuckers using "religion" to exploit.

I don't know what the above has to do with reticle thickness...

But,

I have the Mil-R on a 2nd focal plane ATACR and it is great.
Shot a few FT/R matches with it and at 600 yards it is plenty precise.
