Rifle Scopes Nightforce NX8 for 3-gun

Looking for feedback from people who have used this scope. As well as opinions on what others like.

What I am looking at getting a 1-6/1-8 scope for 3-gun use. I do not like the BDC reticles and am looking for a reticle that works well at close range but also has mil hash marks for holdovers. Thought/feedback would be appreciated.

The more we play with the small and lightweight NX8 the more we like it, at 1x you can use it like an Aimpoint and the reticle is useful at 8x at distance for typical 3gun or defensive scenarios. This review from Aaron Cowan of Sage Dynamics yesterday covers the NX8 pretty well IMO. We have a few left in stock https://bit.ly/2IHaYcM but I'm thinking of grabbing one for myself

Thanks for the quick replies. Will watch the video when I get home. Any issues related to size of reticle when shooting past 200 yards? Any noticable issues with fixed parallax.

My buddy and I were hitting IPSC sized steel plates at 850 yesterday. He was running his PA Platinum 1-8, and I was using my NX8.
I think the whole “reticle is too big” argument is way overblown. The target audience for these scopes is people who shoot “minute of man.”
For that, these scopes are TOPS!! I have used mine to run everything from 1-5 drills to steel at 500-600-850 drills. I literally can’t say enough good about the little NX8. For its intended role....it’s a grand slam.

The scope is outstanding, my only complaint is no windage marks on the hold overs. I prefer the K16i 3gr reticle.

Hello all. Well, my ATACR arrived, as expected, and I was able to mount it up and spend a decent amount of time on it yesterday. As Sonny, from NightForce said: “rest up, you’re not going to want to come off this glass.” Well, he was absolutely correct. Guys and ladies, I can say, comfortably, this scope is the best LOV in the game right now. It is a whole different level. The glass is so clean and bright that it feels like it is a higher powered scope. This scope is everything from the famous ATACR 4-16, just shrunk down. The ED glass is awesome, it gathers light like Stormy Daniels gathers ......well, you get it. To say the glass is “clean/clear” doesn’t do it justice.
I spent quite a bit of time (3 magazines full) at our long distance range. Shot the scope from 200/300/400/500/600, and never thought about touching the dial. I held everything, and the reticle was perfect for it. I shot 84 rounds (3 28 rd mags) at all different distances. It was as simple as holding mil marks, holding wind, bang! If the wind got me, adjust to the impact in the scope-bang.....clang, hit.
I was able to get the scope zeroed in like 3 shots. Very first shot measured 4 mils low, 3 mils left according to the reticle. I uncapped, made my adjustments, shot again. Then some tiny fine tuning, third shot, looked good. Fourth shot was X ring. Really, that easy. I have not shot many tree style reticles like this. My experience has been GenII XR, and the H2CMR. This reticle is perfect for the job of this scope.

Did some up close work, 2 shot/ 3 shot drills from 15/10/7 yds. Truest 1X you can believe. For real, two eyes open, red dot fast. The timer said: .63 reaction to first shot, .18 splits at 10 yards. That’s about red dot fast.

I shot some groups at about 10pm (I work swings, I was still at work). The scope allows enough light to see impacts at 50yds through the glass. Group positions did not change at dark. I have had scopes, at night, where my groups will shift .1mil left/right at dark. I believe it’s the way the glass processes light that causes a perceived shift. Or, it’s the red dot inside not being in the EXACT same spot as the light changes. Either way, at night/low light, my groups stayed exactly the same.

Not sure what else there is to say about this ATACR, except: incredible. Yes, it’s very spendy. Whether the price difference between the NX8 and the ATACR is worth it, only you can say. For me.......I’m keeping BOTH.
