Gentlemen:
Help me in deciding Nightforce NXS vs Vortex AMG, assuming reticle are equal and prices are comparable? This is going into JH Rifle from PVA. I have been behind Vortex AMG (latest gen) but no Nightforce NXS in my range.

Assume that they are price the same. "prices are comparable " not looking to save every last cents but as for Optically (which sight picture), and over all (ergonomics) use which one is better? Also if you have something better in that price range, please offer it? Prices is not everything as I am looking to get best value optically like when we shop. Thank.

Exactly. SFP or FFP? Which do you want and need? I will pick FFP for most any long range use.

Also as mentioned you get a newer scope with better features, glass and reticle in the AMG. The NXS is a solid scope and I have owned a few but easy choice between the two.

The AMG is a far nicer scope if you can live with the reticle. I could not. Drop the EBR-2c or 2d and I would buy another one. So far the EBR7C is the only reticle I just can’t deal with on anything other than 20X plus magnification.

I can’t take those super busy reticle either. Maybe look into a FFP Nightforce at Euro or on the Equipment Exchange here on the hide. Great Used scopes are available here on the hide all the time.

Why? Basically same reticles except for center dot and .2 mil marks. Which of those don't you like?

I don’t want to derail the thread but will answer your question. I really like Vortex, but either sold or traded away two razors gen ii and two AMG’s with the 7C reticle. I do not like the .2s on in the reticle. When powered down they are unusable to me. I don’t know if it is the combination of .2s and the half mil marks but it is nothing but eyestrain undsr 18-20x. I have never used another .2 mil scope to compare it to. If I my scope is always around 20x then i would think differently.

That being said, I own 2 Razor gen ii 4.5-27x56 with the EBR 2c reticle and they are my favorite scopes to date. I also like the pst gen ii 3-15x44 with the ebr2d reticle. It is thicker and for some reason Vortex had the reticle made much bolder as well. It looks like the gen ii razors with the ebr7c may be a little bolder too which I do like.

Was just wondering which it was. Depending on reticle the .2 can be tough for some. I really liked it on the S&B H2CMR and like it on the 7C but I also really like the 2C.

I understand that some reticles don't work for everyone, but I for one love the EBR-7B reticle in the AMG, but then again I also love the S&B H2CMR. I hold for wind and the .2 mil hash marks on the crosshair make it easy for me to get the right wind hold on small targets. In matches I spend most of the time around 12-15x magnification and for me, at those magnifications, I have no trouble seeing the .2 mil marks. I own 2 AMGs and for me the OPs question is an easy decision. I have shot with several NXS 5.5-22 scopes and the glass quality in them was pretty mediocre compared to the AMG and the SFP in the NXS was a deal killer for me. Plus I don't really like the rotating objective in the NXS.
