Rifle Scopes Nightforce NXS vs NX8 ?

I already have have a C236 NXS - 5.5-22x56mm scope w a MOA NPR1 reticle, I bought in 2012 for use on a Savage .308 bolt rifle build. I have a new build Savage Bolt rifle in a XLR chassis in 6.5 CM that needs a proper scope, and have been considering either another NXS or instead, a NX8 4x32x50mm MOAR F1 C624. I don't want to consider the additional cost of a high end ATACR scope, even w my vet discount.

I live in AZ so have access to Ben Avery range and can shoot 300yds at the benchrest range or out to 1000 yrds, although I usually visit a friends place in NM where his range goes out to 1250+ yds w steel targets. I shoot occasionally and for fun, due to many broken bones and injuries. Using my NXS, the glass has been more than sufficient to meet my needs, even with old eyes, and I typically shoot in full daylight, although occasionally before sunset at the range in NM
1. Is the glass on the NX8 comparable to that of the NXS?
2. what will I loose if I go with the NX8 w the 50mm objective vs the NXS w 56mm?
3. is the current NXS inventory comparable to a 2012 manufactured NXS scope in terms of quality and most importantly glass?
4. is the NXS being discontinued and why?

I have both and love both.

I would give the edge to NX8.

I have shot my NXS to a mile no issues.

Never shot NX8 that far as it's on a AR15.
I assure you the NX8 will do the mile just fine.

If cost is a factor get the less expensive.

You will not go wrong with either one.

I would recommend the 4-32x NX8 but just treat it like a 4-24x as the eyebox can get tight above 24x. The NXS is still a great scope but I prefer the FFP and capped windage available in the NX8.

A Mark5 would also be an excellent choice.

The only reason I would go with the 4-32 NXS magnification is the similar lower end and a slight higher upper end when I might occasionally need it. But I totally get your comment about the eyebox.

Can't comment on the NX8 but I have an NXS 4-32X56 on my AIAW and I have an ATACR 5-25X50 on my Les Baer Swat Sniper and while not the same higher end magnification I don't see much difference with either scope at 25X. I'd go with the NXS 8-32X56.
