I guess I'm not average, my eyes are not what they once were.

Re: Nightforce or Leupold

We had a patrol officer here in Phoenix make a 300 yard + shot with his Colt AR15 Iron sights. Hit the guy in the hand and in the chest. Since this incident the city has greatly increased the size of it's patrol rifle program.

Re: Nightforce or Leupold

I've had a bunch of Leupolds and I just bought my 3rd Nightforce. Nightforce is clearer and alot more durable than Leupold. Nightforce optical quality lets me make shots at things I would not have been able to see with the leupold. Nightforce reticles also make it easier for me to shoot because they are alot thinner. Matching reticle/turrets are a plus.

And the illumination on the Leupold sucks it will get bumped on when by accident and you will have to keep replacing batterys. Also had a whole turret unscrew in my hand.

My rifles get bounced around hard and I have never had a NF lose zero.

Some are and some aren't.

Re: Nightforce or Leupold

For the money Leupold is good. Clear, bright...a little too bright compared to the Nightforce. The other thing about nightforce is you can get a MOA/MOA setup or Mil/Mil. Leupold only does Mil/Mil at this point. I'd go nightforce with a MOA setup

They have a mil/mil, but the knobs are in .05 mil increments. Dumb decision on their part.

As long as the shooter can resolve his hold, higher magnification may only serve as a distraction to good shooting. For example, if the shooter only concentrates on perspective of aim, he may over-look thinking about the elements and factors of a steady position being in place, or for follow-through.

But, all those things being equal, I prefer more mag. JMO, but I will take 20X over 10X every time.

hehehehehe.....I'm glad I wasn't the only one. I haven't read of anyone I personally know and respect that they dropped a grand on a sightron and its did as well (both optically and handling field conditions) as a NF.
