NightForce or Vortex Razor or Primary Arms

My ACOG is great and all but I'd like something that has actual eye relief so I am looking at some LVPOs. If money was no object then I'd get the ATACR 1-8. But my budget is closer to the:
primary arms plx 1-8 griffin
night force nx 1-8
vortex razor 1-10

In a perfect world the scope would be as light as the nx8 with the reticle of the griffin and the eye box of the razor.

I can't make up my mind.
This is for an AR15 btw.

Yeah, I am leaning towards that. Its only 4oz heavier than the nx. Better reticle, better eyebox. But probably more fish eye at 1x.

Razor for sure gives most bang for the weight, the PLx is kind of a chonky bastard although the most affordable of those 3.

If weight was the biggest concern Id say NX8

Id only pic the PLx over those 2 if its what the budget stopped at

Not sure how true this is but I've heard that all three of these scopes come from the same factory in japan. Either way, all three are in budget.

Razor gen 3 is a 1-10, that gives it a distinct advantage, and it does it at not much more weight than the NX 8, thats its advantage.

The NX8 is the lightest of the 3, but it sacrifices some things to make it happen

The PLx is the cheapest option and the heaviest. But if you want the Chevron aiming point and an ACSS reticle variant then that is its advantage. This is also the only one ive looked through. Its a nice optic, but I'd take one of the other 2 if money wasnt concerned.

Don’t rule out a 1-8 Burris XTRII either. The one I had was built like a tank but clear and reliable

I plan to pick up a Burris RT6 in the near future

But of what you listed. Money not a concern, NF. Otherwise get the primary arms

The Primary arms PLX 1-8 is a very good scope
It is very afforable.
It is a bit on the heavy side.

What sets this scope apart is the reticle is designed to be useful at 1x all the way to 8x with or without illumination and probably gives you the fastest on target times if you are running and gunning up close in a 2 way ish range.
I chose this for my AR15 rifles because between the price and the reticle, it fit my intended run and gun use best.

The Vortex Razor Gen III is going to be a fair bit more expensive (a bit close to double the Primary arms PLX)
It has better glass
The reticle is better for fine aiming work, but at 1x you'll need to have the illumination on or it will be hard to pick up your target quickly.

If this is mostly going to be used at the range and you want to make precise target shots, the Vortex is going to be the best option.

If you decide to go with the Vortex, give Scott at Liberty Optics a call on the phone and there is a good chance he can get you a great deal.

There's always the arfcom approach: get both.

I am getting the RAZOR 1-10! I think the fish eye effect at 1x sucks. But the reticle on the NX8 sucks more.

Now I just need a mount. I thinking a NF mount will be nice. They are made from 7075 and not as expensive as something from scalarworks. Any other options worth looking at as far as mount go?

Id Try the New Athlon ETR 1-10, looks good, the Razor is way to over priced.

I had narrowed my choice down to the three the OP is looking at and I just got the Plx 1-8 Griffin mil this week. It's amazing, btw.

How is the razor 1-10 reticle better for fine aiming work or precise shots?? The EBR-9 MRAD has a .7 MOA center dot and the EBR-9 MOA has a 1 MOA center dot.

The chevron actually offers a fine aiming point instead of a large target-obscuring dot, which was what sold me on it over the others. Money wasn't a concern in my decision.

At 1:22 it looks like they have the ocular cranked all the way in. If that's how they set it and shot with it then that can exaggerate the fish bowl effect. Even in the video they said this was really only an issue 10yds and in. I set the ocular up so it was screwed further out so that I had a nice flat image on 1X and a crisp reticle on 10X. Running through drills and transitioning between targets it was damn near as quick as running a red dot.

I own the Gen2e 1x6 razor and do not find any fish eye at all.And if 6x is enough for you it is an outstanding scope.

I’ve got a Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x56 and love it. My only complaint is the weight (32 oz). The flipside to that is the thing is sturdy enough to hammer nails with.
