Ok, this forum has proven to me that I need a Nightforce. I'm gona be trading my MK4 to Euro Optics in the near future. I know the model I want. NXS 5.5x22x56 high speed with zero stops. The only decision left is reticle. I will be doing mostly paper punching at distances under 500 with an occasional 1000 yard. I like the NP-R1 but it looks very "busy". I have a mildot scope on my department rifle, but I like MOA adjustment better. The NP-1 has also cought my eye. What reticle do you like and why. Also pics thru a R1 at a target if you have them. Thanks

Re: Nightforce Reticle

The NPR1 is busy at low magnification but it opens up and works well at the higher mags (15-22). If you will mostly be in the lower power ranges then you might consider the NPR2.

Can you get the new MLR2 on a 5.5-22x NXS? I interpreted the press release as the new reticles would only be available on the 3.5-15x F1. I was disappointed to see no new 5.5-22x F1, but I'd settle for a SFP 22x NXS if I can get it with the MLR2. Otherwise, I'm probably going to save toward a Premier.

If your department uses mil based scopes, I'd definitely stick with a mil-based scope for personal use (reticle and adjustments). I really hope the new MLR2 will be available on the 5.5-22x NF models. If it is, I'll be buying one.

BTW, EuroOptics are great folks to deal with. Buy from them with confidence.

Re: Nightforce Reticle

I have the NP1 reticle on my 8-32X56 NXS on a TRG 22 and like it because it wasn't as busy as the NP R1. I find it very easy to use. That said I have a NF 5.5-22X50 NXS with a NP R1 reticle and find it a bit easier to use with for long distance shooting with the 1 MOA hash marks. Each has their place it comes down to what suits you best.

Re: Nightforce Reticle

Currently I don't use the reticle for windage or elevation but I may start if I go with this one. I have looked at numerous pics of the NP-R1. Another concern I have is it look very thin. Is this an issue with any of you guys?

Re: Nightforce Reticle

Well I can't decide on a reticle. So, I'm going to make the trip up to Euro Optics in the morning and hand pick one. Wahoo! I think I'll go ahead and pick up a set of NF ultralight rings and NF base while I'm there.

MLR2 may not be at the dealers yet. It is worth waiting for...

Re: Nightforce Reticle

I got the 3.5-15x50 nxs np-r1. Its my first high end optic and love it. I dont have any issues at all with the hash marks...Like others have said, check out a few before you buy...
