Good afternoon,

I was looking into the Nightforce SHV 4-14x56 w/IHR reticle.

Does anyone have feedback on this scope good or bad?

I was looking through the Nightforce site and it caught my attention.

Thanks.

I haven't seen too much concerning them.
I do know they are high quality, japanese made scopes.
They look to be a decent package, but for the price, I think you could do just as well with a Bushnell LRHS, though the top end is a bit lower at 3-12x and it is not illuminated.

The sightron S-Tac 2.5-17.5 shares many of the attributes listed, though it is made in the philippines vs japan. In the unlikely event you need warranty work, sightron has excellent customer service.

Thanks. I currently have a
Bushnell Elite 6500 2.5-16x50. The scope has been pretty nice and has been flawless. I could only speak good things about Bushnell.

I was looking to change to a 56mm objective and came across the Nightforce SHV.

I thought this would be a great opportunity to own, what seems to be a quality Nightforce scope and not totally break the bank.

Here is a review I conducted for Long Range Hunting Online Magazine Nightforce SHV 4-14X56 Riflescope Review

Since this review was coordinated for by the staff at LRH, I don't feel it appropriate to post the review again on this forum, but rather direct to their site. I'd prefer to not do that, but if you are looking for information about this scope, you may be interested. In short, I really like the scope for what it was designed to do.

I think Nightforce dropped the ball when they made the elevation turret only good for 10MOA per revolution, yet no zero stop. You are almost always going to be past one revolution at distance.

I have one on hand for review this year. It was presented to me at Shot Show as the optics of an NXS with less expensive to manufacture turrets. This does seem to be the case as, from what you can tell in an exhibition hall (and the Nightforce booth is not in one of the better lit rooms,) the optics look very much like an NXS. I can also vouch for the turrets being less desirable than the NXS as the feel is not very good. I believe the idea was to make a hunting scope with the optics of an NXS for those who do not use the adjustments for anything beyond zeroing. I expect this was accomplished though I am anxious to test the adjustments when my other test scopes for this year arrive.

I don't mind the 10moa per turn and no ZS or the fact it's not available in mils. What bothers me is the turret design that uses the screw through the top and splines vs a friction set screw. The design they used rarely has hash marks line up well. I also think they failed on the 56mm objective as most hunting and varmint rigs have fixed cheek piece and this just means its harder to get a good cheek weld.

The beast is a failure in my book as well because it adds another process (the lever) to dialing an adjustment. I would have loved to see the ATACR in FFP instead of the beast and I think most here would agree.

This... I have no interest in the Beast because I have no interest in having to flip a switch to make my correction. I had high hopes for it too... When Nightforce comes out with an ATACR FFP, I'll def pick one up.

Sorry for the thread jack...

for the money, the SHV seems pretty cool.
