looking to invest in a good carry pistol for everyday use , as I would be using it only in a serious event want to get one of the better ones.
I have been looking at the Nighthawk Predator 2 and wanted to get the thoughts of the "Collective" here before I buy it .

    other suggestions???

Since I'm cheap, I wouldn't spent that much on a carry pistol. Aside from getting beat up on a daily basis, what if it must get used? I don't think I would want my $3500 pistol in an evidnece locker at the local Police Station.

That being said, this is America. Live the dream. It looks bad ass to me.

Check out the ed brown kobra carry lightweight. Its lighter than an all steel model and shoots greats. The bobtail prints much less than the standard frame I love mine the only complaint is the finish wears easy but its an awsome carry pistol and can be had for a few hundred less than the nighthawk.

I have two "Vickers" model Nighthawks and they are fine pistols. Personally, I don't believe there is a nicer shooting pistol than a well tuned 1911 although a SAA Colt revolver might balance better. With that said, I don't carry any of my 1911's for several reasons including the thumb safety, restricted magazine capacity, and 2.5-3# triggers. I train with and recommend most of the Glock variants although the XD lineup works and have heard good things of the M&P pistols. I'm not going to repost the points made by 816 but they're all on target. I have an Ed Brown also but it's a full size Kobra, excellent piece of gunsmithing.

I think the best Nighthawk for carry is the T3 thin. For daily carry, that seems like the best bet, IMHO.

I enjoy my Nighthawk and if I was going to carry I would look at the T3 or some variant from many of the great smiths out there. If I am outdoors it will be the M&P(Springfield and Glock make great guns) since I just shoot better with it than others. The M&P has proven to be a tank and eats everything.

If I were in your shoes I would jump on a Nighthawk....plus there is the cool factor with a NH. No one ever comes up and asks to shoot any of the M&P's, the XD, Kimber or Kahr. The only ones are the Nighthawk and an old Colt SA

I carry a fullsize all steel version (Wilson for the past dozen or so years, Colt before that ). No bobtail and even has a magwell. Of course, I started with a full size long before the plastic, lightweight and sub-compact fads began so I didn't know it was too heavy to carry or too large to conceal. After 40 years I'm too stubborn to change.

I have a full size Predator and I personally would not concealed carry it for many reasons that have been mentioned in this thread. It is an awesome pistol to shoot and look at. But I hate taking it apart. What a pain in the arse. Go with a conventional 1911 with the bushing barrel like the T3. Have fun shooting the T3 and still can be carried at times, but then still carry some thing else which is smaller, lighter and cheaper because it will get messed up.

I carry an Ed Brown Kobra Carry (not the light version), any 1911 in this range is a good carry piece. The argument that it gets scuffed and beat up is moot in my view, it is a tool, not a painting. Then comes the cost; it is supposed to save my life if I ever need it (hope I never do). My life (or members of my family) is (are) worth more to me then a $2500 gun. I would carry a Volkmann if I had one. In the end it is up to the individual how much they want to spend on a carry gun. Personally I carry the best I can afford as my carry piece.

    I've got a Predator 3.

Accurate and reliable, and it's my carry piece.

If the cops take it, it was worth it.

I highly recommend it, but apparently it's not for people who are outwitted by a paper clip.
