There are no cameras in the White House except in the areas where tourists are allowed (this was not one of those). Multiple people who have been on staff have confirmed this. There ARE a shiton of secret service agents at any given time.

A. The first family actually lives there.
B. Nixon cooking his own goose by taping himself pretty much eliminated any recording equipment in the non-public areas of that house for all time.

That said, they fingerprinted the bag, and no one works in the White House who hasn't been fingerprinted. They knew who's blow it was in an hour.
