With all the scared people buying all the ammo, I’ve been shooting what I can find, putting 1-200 rounds downrange a week I’ve been exploring different ammo lol

So I was having Ok luck with match-22 (not as nice as SK match but whatever), so now I just order Tac-22, seems to be the same weight and velocity as each other, what’s the difference?

*Also after I shoot tac-22, will I now be a “operator”?

Match is a step up from Tac22. Match shoots better than Tac22, in my guns, but both shoot well.

:( Sadly, when hunting, I'm not allowed to carry my benchrest gear with me. :(

Can't take the time to drag it through the woods, set up the rest and rear bag.
I'm pretty much limited to shooting off hand or braced on a tree or fencepost.
Like I said, 30 yards or less, good enuf.
I ain't gambling on the chance of leaving a wounded critter.
Only sure things. :D

Now perhaps you'd like to try my idea of fun?
50 shots at 200 yards, any setup or rifle you want.
All 50 at a single aimpoint. See how well you do.
Quite an enjoyable way to spend some range time. ;)

See if y'er results with Norma rimfire match mine...

When I hunt small edible game it means grey squirrels, fox squirrels, and rabbits. Head shots only, and yes indeed, about 30 yards is the limit with a light weight rifle with either iron sights, a low powered scope, or my .36 caliber Tennessee Flinter. In addition to my .22 long rifles, I frequently use .22 wrf and .25-20 w.c.f in either a model 92 rifle, a Low-Wall, or a Model 25 Remington pump. Standing, leaning on a tree is the most common field position.

It is difficult to see much father than 30 yards in a decent hard woods, and a squirrel or rabbit's eye is a pretty small target.

I've shot quite a bit of both, the Tac is ok, the Match version (white box) is "more consistent" than the Tac for competition purposes but both will have those "flyers" that can really piss you off because you had a good string going. SK is more consistent for a just a little bit more $$, or it use to be anyway.

Any good leads on where to find SK?

Just have to scan all the ammo places. I found some SK on RFC several weeks ago, and got some Eley black box from Killoughs a couple months ago. It's definitely more miss than hits and when you see it's in stock, just cough real hard and hit the order button. It may shoot good for you or it may not. If not, you can always sell it for what you paid for it and start all over again.

Thought I’d update.

Took both the tac and match out, 75f 41% humidity, 30.08inhg, 40’ MSL

Sako p94s range, stock 20”

Both rounding error level same at 50yrds

100yrds the match was 7moa drop, tac 5moa

My experience with Tac-22 has been less than stellar. Average just over MOA at 50 yards from my B14R while Center X was around .6 MOA at the same range.
But during this ammo shortage I did buy another 2500 rounds of Tac-22, just sayin'

If the word "Match" is on the label, it probably ain't.

Tried both on several occasions.
Neither were particular impressive.
Chronograph showed 70 to 80 fps ES for a box of 50.
At 25 yards they are decent small game cartridges.
At 50 yards the strays and fliers are annoying.
At 100 yards and further not what I would consider capable of predictable trajectories.

I have used it for 50 yard groups (Norma Match) and it was decent. Didn’t shoot as well as SK rifle match but it all fired and it fired under an inch reliably. For the money and availability I was happy with it. Would it be my first choice? No but it’s not the worst ammo I have tried. It beat the Federal Match that I paid way too much for. My Bergara B14R seems to like SK ammo the best.

Iv been shooting some TAC out of my b14r. Only have 60 rounds down the tube, like mentioned above fliers are annoying. No chrono as of yet so I can’t compare mv from shot to shot. New to the rimfire game hopefully I get some sk,eley, and Lapua soon to compare it too.
