Just wanted to see if there were any shooters near my area. I'm in the Walker / Winston county area of Alabama. I've taken a course at K&M and been to one of the matches Shannon recently held. I plan on going back in June for the 4 day course. So, I figured that I could learn more and have more fun shootin with others near me.

Tuscaloosa here. A few other local guys on here as well. We get up to AP in Carbon Hill every chance we get.

i haven’t been to AP due to it only being open to matches. I really need to get my rifle dialed in. All I have available is a 100 yards at my house.

You should come out to Alabama Precision Feb 22. It’s in Carbon Hill. It is a one day match you should register to shoot it. Do you have a dial up scope on a rifle?

Yea I’ve been wanting to come check it out. It’s only about 30 mins from my house. No I don’t have a good optic yet. That’s why I joined the forum. I got bit by the long range bug. I’m buying a new rifle and optic very soon so I can start shooting long range. All of my rifle experience was military, hunting, and plinking out to 300. I’ve never used a dail up scope or holdover reticle. I’ve only used duplex reticles. Do they let people come out and watch the matches at Alabama precision? I would love to come watch and learn while I get my rifle setup and dialed in.

I hope to build a 1000 yard plinking range soon. I also want to start hosting nrl 22 matches. My two sons would love it!

yes they let people come out and watch. You just sign a waiver and it’s free. If you shoot its $90. Do you have a rifle that Has at 10 round mag? If youhave an AR-15 5.56/223 youcan shoot tactical at Alabama precision. You can get an Athlonscopes for a very decent price to get you in the game. I live over in Curry. For AP, how realistic would it be to use a 16” AR running a fixed 10x? A bolt gun is about 1.5-2 years away for me whereas I will have an AR with a Criterion barrel next monthish.

Can you dial your scopes elevation for extended ranges? If then I’d say yes for the most part. They are great for first timers. A lot of people to help you out. Bring what you got and run it. But you do need to be able to dial your elevation.

That said, I don’t have a place to gather DOPE before a match. Any work arounds? Plan to shoot factory 77 SMKs in whatever brand shoots best in my barrel.

Where are you located? I’m located in Bremen, Alabama. I’m about 30 mins from AP. We have several hundred acres of family land. I’m hoping to have a range setup soon. I’m hoping I can find a good spot to get out to 1,000. But I’ll take what I can get. It’s very thick woods and very hilly terrain. I should easily be able to get out to 500 at least. You are welcome to pm me and come shoot. I’m new to long range shooting so I need to practice, learn how to quickly correct for misses and calculate firing solutions.
