The 175 RDF is by far the easiest & most forgiving high BC (of the 175 choices) bullet in 308 that I have come across. Shoots very well with a wide band of powder loads. Prior to the RDF I was shooting the 175 TMK and while it shot well, it was very fussy to get a node where it did well. I'm currently shooting 43 grains of Varget in a 26" bartlien 10 twist at 2680fps .020 off the lands with the Nosler in lapua brass. Love it.

Yeah, they can end up a little on the long side, but as fursniper said, they are forgiving. With the lot that I currently have, I am loading close to .060 from the lands and they shoot great.

I also find that the 178 ELD-M are equally forgiving....at least in my .308.

I have the same concerns as my SPR will only allow a max coal of 2.885 for reliable mag feeding . The point at which I'm kissing the lands is 2.957 , these measurements are for 168 g BERGER HYBRIDS for a total jump of .072 . The Hybrids tolerate this amount of jump quite well in my SPR , my hope is the 175g RDF will be just as tolerant until I can send my rifle to CDI for new bottom metal that is !
I plan on Alpha IIs and CDI BM .

Just started using these, comparing them to the SMK and TMK. More consistent on my new build compared to the Sierra's and they shot pretty damn good. Rem 700 trued with 22" OB MTU 1:10 barrel. Loaded at 2.1725 BTOG, (far end of magazine, no problems feeding) 44.7 gr of Varget, Hornady brass, used Fed. Gold brass with same load but sticky bolt and will reduce. Will get a speed if it ever stops flooding . Groups are touching at 300, so far so good will be purchasing more! Have a good one.

I am running my 175 RDF from a 25 inch barrel. Right at 2635. 1-10 twist Benchmark MTU barrel. This is probably the best bullet for 308. Has the best BC in the 175 range for sure. And they are very sexy!! I am not having any issues with oal like mentioned above. Seems fine

I have found them to be very forgiving I would not worry to much about jump. I have a 26 inch 10 twist brux the velocity has been been great low SD and ES with this bullet across a broad range of charge weights. I am shooting Varget 43.4 to 43.9 all have had great consistency just trying to narrow down the load now. But I am pleased with the bullet. 2720-2780 fps. This is a little faster than some I think there is probably a good node higher but I have to keep the fps below 2800 for PRS tactical division. I am .060 jump on mine.

Anyone have a chance to take these to distance and verify the BC? I'm hoping to move to these once I get through the rest of my 168 Hybrids, which have been beyond excellent, but are spendy for a trainer rifle.

I agree there fine with jump. I haven't even looked where they end up at the lands yet (my mag length load) but I know there jumping pretty far at 2.860" in my chamber.

I've got between .4-.6 moa with them with 8208 xbr in my 18.5 douglas barreled savage. 1:10 was getting better groups with br2's but silly low es/sd with 210m's so I took the .6 moa load with es of 1 and sd of .8! rest of the load 3x hornady match neck sized, 42.7gr xbr 2577avg velocity no signs of pressure at all.

I believe LC LR brass has less capacity then commercial brass so you may want to start lower and work up. i'd start around 39-40gr and go from there personally.

I have two 1-12" 308 bolt guns that I have loaded up some 175 RDFs for. I just haven't been able to get out to the range due to the constant rainfall we've been having. I'ii post up results when I can.

Went out today not ideal conditions 16mph NNE wind I was shooting into and 50F. It was calm and 81f yesterday love Kansas. I was cold so did not shoot to well today pulled a few during fits of shivering. On my best of days I am half MOA shooter most days three quarter so take that into consideration. I did some work prior to these groups and chose this range for accuracy and velocity I plan on shooting PRS Tactical division so have to stay under the 2800fps cap. It appeared that there was another node coming at the 42.8-43.1 but velocity was to high. That is over book max but no signs of pressure in my rifle (trued 700 26 inch 10 twist brux with brake). Today I was using Federal GMM brass, CCI primers, XBR 8208 and 175 RDF seated at 2.875 OAL. Necks have been turned on 3x fired no annealing. 42.2 is a good group my ass was cold from sitting on a metal chair and last string of the day. I pulled the 3 low and one high that is six at .70 all are 10 shot groups from concrete bench, bi-pod and Tab bag for rear rest.

I am going to do more work with the 41.9-42.2 Avg Velocity for 41.9 was 2726 and 42.2 was 2755 SD on 42.2 was 10.4. I don't have any room for seating depth adjustments since I am max for reliable mag feeding I am at .056 jump right now. From previous work it fell apart at 42.5 book max from Hodgdon.

Back out again today. Cooler than yesterday 39F winds sucked again at 15mph. I shot 26 rounds loaded into FGMM brass neck turned and annealed. I was curious how forgiving the load would be so I used a Redding 30br powder drop. I verified all charges on a Gem Pro but only made sure that they were between 41.9 and 42.2. I load on a Dillon 550B I am satisfied with this load I shot the first 5 at 100 just to confirm what I shot yesterday. Cold bore was 1.1 inches high which is consistent with this rifle with the Magneto attached. Next four measured right at a half MOA. I then shot the next 21 at 300yds. Wind was a bitch with some cold rain falling however the vertical was never more that 1.5 inches with two groups being 1.3 inches. Horizontal varied with the wind I had one at about 2 inches. I am really liking XBR with the 175's.

I had a chance this morning to try some 175 RDF's in my 308 1-12" 40 XBKS. Shot @ 100 yards.

41.0 AR Comp / S&B LRP / Win. cases / COL- 2.820" / 2- 5 shot groups 1.2", 1.4"

47.0 2000MR / S&B LRP / Win. cases / COL- 2.820" / 2- 5 shot groups 1.26", 1.8"

Neither load shot well. Both of these loads shot well using Nosler CC's and Hornady 178 OTM's out of this rifle. I may try Varget and 8208 XBR just to see if it may shoot a bit better.

mike06 only if the RDF likes a jump of a country mile... becasue the ojive is way back on the bullet... although I have found that there are 2 shapes for the 308 RDF and they vary by .010.. that right 10 thou. I have measured 3 lot numbers and one lot has them mixed.. and one lot is all the long shape, another all short. I have used comparitors for all calibers from 308 down to 22 and the .010 difference extends the entire lenght of the bullet not just the ogive junction..

I have a very short chamber... a palma 95 with .040 FB and at 2.88 I am still jumping them like .030. in a palma beasly that would be like .1 if my math is right of the top of my head.. for comparison .. my 175 SMK loaded at 2.81 is touching lands already in my chamber.

so far I have not found that these group even remotely well at aics magazine length and with 2 different shaped bullets.. even if they did group well at 100, they woul likely fall apart at long range due to a degraded / differing BC.

JC Steel you are running these pretty slow for a 25" barrel.. care to share additional info on your chamber and load

I am running a 24" scheider with a palma 95 chamber and at 2.88 its still jumping about .030 and it doest group for me at all... and this rifle shoots 168 into .3 and 175SMK into .5 pretty regular with maybe 1 in 10 opening the group average.

I either get really bad vertical or horizontal stringing with the RDF and I cant tune it out.

steves1911 I did not go that high with the varget load in lapua testing but might have to explore the high node.. I find that these bullets shoot slower than SMK for equal powder loads.. either slightly undersized or they are soft jacket.. so perhaps they will take a stiff load without pressure signs.

did you ever get that load over a crony ?

I’m currently testing 175 RDF and 175 SMK in my 308 gas gun. 20” barrel with 1/10 twist. Using 43gr of 4064 I was getting 2545fps with the sierras, the Nosler day the same charge were 2505 FPS but surprisingly with single digit SD of 9

Yeah it’s pretty amazing. I don’t have my DOPE in front of me, but compared to my load with 168 amazing I was shocked by how little I was coming up. If I remember the 168s were like 3.1 up at 500yds and the RDF was like 2.3 or something. I’m running:
20” 1:10 bergara stock barrel
175 RDF
43.5gr varget
Federal brass and primers
COAL 2.805”
