sarcasm?
i dont think its bad. its $4 more per 50 than nosler 260 brass.
it might be a good value though if it last longer than the 2-3 firings people seem to get before primer pockets open up from hornady brass(yes your results may vary).
its a touch more than lapua 260 brass, but it will be the only premium 65cm brass.

Re: nosler 6.5 creedmoor brass

Do not count on Nosler to get it to market any time soon. The 221 Rem FB brass introduced last year just showed up. Their 7mm 168gr Custom Competition bullets introduced last year just showed up.

But, they did their 22 Cal 64 Bonded bullets out in good time.

Brass from Nosler is always going to be irregular in supply. Case in point 280AI brass took 10monts last year to get from time of order till delivery.

Re: nosler 6.5 creedmoor brass

$130/100? Are they high? Pretty aggressive pricing, I can't imagine they're going to take over the market anytime soon.

The Hornady brass is very very good, good enough that Nosler's 210% of the going rate isn't lighting my world on fire.

How long have you been waiting? I've had some 168 cc's for 5 months now I haven't gotten to try out yet.

Re: nosler 6.5 creedmoor brass

I think the extra price might be worth it to some. I like the Hornady brass but the fact that the Nosler comes fully prepped ready to load is a plus in its favor. I do agree, it is still a little high.

Re: nosler 6.5 creedmoor brass

Hornady brass isn't the junk everyone tells you it is. I've got 6 firings on this batch and expect 4 more. I tried forming from Winchester brass, two firings opened up the pockets. If you think the Nosler will outlive ten firings ,go ahead, but I doubt it.

I have seen it go both ways. I know of a member at my club that decided to anneal his brass and was able to get 6-7 loads without any neck cracking, and yet another member who is having issues with the primer pockets. There really is not much to do about that, but alas I do not have access to his load data so I don't know how fast he is pushing his 142 grain sierra matchking either.

Re: nosler 6.5 creedmoor brass

I made my Creed brass out of some BHM 308 that I had and I would say it has at least 10 firings on it and it is still going strong. The BHM cases were the closest I found in weight to the factory Creed bras and I use the same data for each. I load mine pretty light though at 41.5 gives me 2606 avg out of my 20" tube.

Re: nosler 6.5 creedmoor brass

If this nosler brass is anything like the 260 brass then it should be able to get 10+ reloads before being junk. I have over 10 on my 260 brass and it is still truckin with tight primer pockets(not new tight but just as good as new Rem brass).

Re: nosler 6.5 creedmoor brass

Yeah we can look at the price and speculate about the quality of the brass but for me 500 lb. gorilla in the room that hasn't yet been mentioned is that another (reputable) company felt the need to make 6.5 Creedmoor brass even in an Obama economy (not to mention a less than optimal political climate).

To me that is saying something right there especially if you can remember the doubters predicting it's doom because they didn't see the need for another 6.5 cartridge.

Options are good! Hopefully we'll see more?

I'd say that's a nice development in this cartridge's young life.

Re: nosler 6.5 creedmoor brass

I am averaging 9 reload cycles on my hornady cm brass. This average is on 300 pieces of brass , several different lot numbers. Hell the first 50 pieces went 12 cycles@ 42.4 gr h4350 and 140 amax. I got nosler brass once, 308, 168&44 gr varget had primers falling out on the 3 or 4th cycle. Velocity was the same as win brass, so it wasn't a super hot load, about 2725fps in a 24" barrel. Win lasted 12+ with that 308 load.

I have yet to shoot a single round of 6.5CM, but I am impressed with the quaility of 6.5CM Hornady brass I have prepped, the primer pockets have been pretty uniform, the flash holes apppear to be drilled, and neck thickness is on par with Lapua in regards to uniformity, I really don't see Norma being worth a penny more Hornady, but I do like that fact we have a choice besides Hornady.

Not too much more than Lapua 6.5-284 at $127.00/100.

Hopefully with Norma bringing 6.5 Creedmoor brass to the market it will eventually bring the prices down.

Nice to have options...

Who do you think makes Nosler's brass? Answer: Norma. Hence the long and erratic delivery times; there's a lot of land and water between Bend, Oregon and Åmotfors, Sweden...

It's nice to see options, it speaks well for the cartridge.

That being said, I think I'll continue to use Hornady brass and my own formed brass for now. No need to fix what isn't broke, eh?

I've heard about Norma manufacturing for Nosler but it's still good to have another label supporting the Creedmoor. I am using Hornady brass as well with no plans to change. That being said if there is a shortage from Hornady again at least there are options.
