I use a NP-R2 and haven't noticed. My reticle is as easy to see as my teammates with NP-R1's.

I totally agree with what your stating, I've had several NPR2's and they all seam faint compared to the NPR1's

I've got one of each, and the R1 is a LOT bolder and blacker than the R2. It doesn't really look any thicker, just blacker...if that makes any sense.
I've adjusted the ocular and side focus and gotten it a little darker, but it's still nowhere as sharp as the R1.
