I had a chance to take NTRP's full weekend course and I cannot recommend it enough. Below is a short review.

Day 1

All the boring and tedious tasks required to be successful on day two including; Chamber measurement, brass trimming, chamfering, deburring, bullet and powder selection, charge throwing, COAL, and seating depth. Jay has all the tools to make this process precise and quick as well as the tools you and I use. We loaded up 150 rounds, 50 for ladder testing and 100 for target

Day 2

Awesome! I'm a new shooter and this was my first time shooting prone. My group size started at about 1.5-1.75 and by the 3rd group was down to about .5 MOA. After ladder testing a bunch of loads we found one that was acceptable in both accuracy and velocity. Before the firing exercise we discussed trajectories, made a drop chart, and explored wind reading. Then we moved on to steel on target. With Jay's wind calls I shot 350, 580, 650 and 750 in a variable 20 mph wind without difficulty. And then there was the golf ball shot. I didn't hit it. I was all over it but not right on top of it. With the wind it was like the ball was being moved between shots, come to think of it I'm not entirely sure there wasn't a gopher out there moving the ball......f*ck that golfball.

As for the instructor; Jay's instruction is clear, concise, and respectful. He's a committed and dedicated instructor, even taking a day off work to complete the course when our original range day was postponed due to some errant tornadoes.

Bottom Line: You're reading this for a reason, lay your money down and take the course, you will not be disappointed.

Thanks again Bud.

Re: NTRP Course

Glad to see Jays business growing and another success story. Not only does Jay offer great training as mentioned, he is constantly improving his range and targets. It's not as simple as just laying down shooting at big easy to hit targets. The range is set up with numerous reactive targets at ranges from 200 to 750 yards. The wind does make it challenging as well. If you want good fundamental training with challenging shooting call and book some time with NTRP. I've done the training as well as a range day and both were more than worth the cost. Congrats to SC on the new found confidence.

Re: NTRP Course

Thanks man. We had a great time. I try to do a write up on my forum for everyone after training with pics and video. Here is Sean's stuff:

NTRP-CKA - I had the pleasure of conducting Reloading I, II, III, and Steel on Target with Sean. During field load development Sean’s rifle proved to be a shooter. This was his first time shooting prone but he did great! You can see how well he shot for the first time. The last two groups indicate he was getting fatigued from the shooting position.

After the Steel on Target course we set up for the golf ball shot. He warmed up with this three shot group at 750 yards. This was his first time shooting past a 100 yard bench.

Unfortunately, the switching 0-20mph winds prevented the golf ball shot. He had the load and skill, just not the cooperative environmental factors. We took some great video of him hitting steel though.

We had a great time, found some great loads for his rifle, and rang a lot of steel. Not everyone has attempted the golf ball shot and not everyone has hit it. Sean put the ball in his pocket to bring back to NTRP on a better day. I look forward to it!

got a bunch of reactives now that make the open range days a lot of fun

Re: NTRP Course

It looks like SC had an excellent time. To go from never shooting prone to banging steel at 750 is very impressive. Good job SC!

NTRP is good to go. I had a great time training with CKA. His range is awesome and filled with all sorts of reactive targets as has been mentioned. The MSTOMP is beyond cool. Overall, NTRP has the facilities and gear to provide some excellent training.

Take SC advice and lay your money down, I did and it was worth every penny. Thanks CKA!

Agreed. The course is definitely worth the cost of admission and the confidence is a testament to Jay's skill as an instructor.

Jay definently has the loading equipment down......LOL</div></div>

Don't get me wrong the load development was an informative and necessary part of the process. It's just not my favorite part of the process. Fortunately, Jay's got a great personality so it made the time go quicker....that and the Giraud!

he would be lucky to hit the berm, Hot Shot, lol

Re: NTRP Course

I appreciate the compliments and you know what, looking back, maybe it was the spotter???? Just kidding, those wind calls were spot on.

You guys that haven't taken the course are going to love it.

The rest of you I look forward to meeting at next range day.
