I had enough unanswered questions about the Barloc setup I didn’t order one with my nucleus. The Nucleus specific BarLocs are backordered so I tried the run of the mill barrel nut Barloc for savage type setups without a recoil lug on my Nucleus. With a HawkHill savage prefit I didn’t have enough barrel tennon to be able to seat the barrel on a go gauge. Works great with a savage barrel nut or a BigHorn nut....but without an action wrench I’m still hosed.

Has anyone tried this with another prefit? I have a proof savage prefit but it’s sitting on an action I don’t want to break down.

This is on a nucleus. My BigHorn nut worked perfectly.

I’ll post a pic later but on the standard barrel nut Barloc without a recoil lug you have a coned washer that goes between the face of the recoil lug and Barloc device...on this barrel that takes up just enough room to not be able to seat the barrel in the action far enough to headspace properly. I have not tried my other savage type prefits to see if the same occurs.

Have you talked to the barrel maker? You might be able to get it fixed, as well as inform them that an extra thread or two might not hurt in future production.

itll be fine once the nucleus specific Barloc arrives or my action wrench. I’m not too worried but I will let the barrel maker know. I may try it on my BigHorn and see how it works out

The second time I screwed everything together there were enough threads. I think my original problem was tired eyes and hands.
I put 250 rounds through the barrel with the original setup and everything functioned just fine.
I finally pulled out the proper Nucleus specific Barloc and everything went together just fine as well.....until I went to drop it back in the stock. The recoil lug and Barloc I originally used were just enough dimensionally different from the Nucleus specific lug and nut that it wouldn’t drop in my inlet. Which I find odd.
