Night Vision NV and thermal kills...

New big pair that moved in and immediately started after my barn cats. My rifle is 37-7/8" for comparison.
The male took a boiler room shot and kept running until I zipped one through both ears.
Spotted this one several hundred yards off. As I was maneuvering to get closer & have the wind right he stepped back out of the brush about 20 yds away, which surprised us both.
6.8/90gr gold dots.

Rained a load the past 10 days, so it Finally cleared sky's past couple nights and I went out early yesterday morning with no moon and in the high 30's F temp.
I pulled up to a large AG. area ( 100 acres of blueberry rows ) I have neglected for about a year, pulled-in stopped, put on helmet, turned on NOD and hand-Therm. Got out of truck to gear up . A fucking coyote ran right by me about 50 yards off to side of me .
I think WTF.. I am only here 5 minutes and I am already busted .
But then I think ..." what if it is just one of those nights when there is just going to be a lot of Coyote activity" ? ( in Right place at Right time )
I just say fuckit , It real dark and No Moon up . So I don't walk anywhere, and I just take my time and setup the tripod/rifle NV right next to my truck . walk out 20 yards and set the call down on the ground . about half hour goes by and let off a few calls and a Big mail came in off to my R-side and I popped him .
Then I just wait about 20 minutes scanning and then go over and drag him over to the truck . Then I do a few more calls over the next 45 min. to an hour span, then I see a pack of 5 running in threw, and I pick one that looks about the best silhouette/pose for good shot about 150 yard out . Popped a big female and drug her over to the truck .
About 20 minutes latter I see with the Therm. one coyote just sitting watching me in a field from across other side the Hwy. I drove in on, about good 400 yards off to backside left of me, and made few calls but he would not commit to crossing over Hwy. to my side to come-in to investigate call .
packed up and went home .

I shot a coyote the other night at 350 yds and spun him a couple times and then dropped. If they do run, they dont get far. I feel like them hollow points packs a good punch and they are moa or better out of my ar
If you are referring to me, it's a flir 536 but it's just a Walmart anchor battery pack that I velcro to the rail.
This boar came in about 8:40 Sat night. He hadn't set off the motion detectors yet. I happen to spot him when I went to get a rifle off the front porch and was scanning with thermal when I went out. He taped at 220# and looks to have been cut as a piglet. Had a notched ear and one ear cut smaller than the other. Never saw the cut down ear before.
Walked down to within 45 yards and shot him with a 6.8/120gr SST. 16" ARP I built with a IR Hunter MK3 35 on it. Dropped like a rock.
It wasn't the sounder I was looking for but a dead pig anyway.

Got this female just days after our chicken coop got wiped out... First kill with an IR laser/PVS-14 setup. Steel silhouettes in the Army made the setup seem easy, but i'm learning that small moving animals in tall grass are a whole lot harder. Making me want dedicated thermal or PVS-30 setup.
I killed one that had no ears at all...crazy. unfortunately I have to deal with a lot of lowlife around here releasing hogs nearby to charge people to hunt 'em. About half of all the decent-size kills on my ranch have hogs with cut ears. Shit-heads. Photo is from the following morning on a 175lb boar.
Any idea what the point of cutting the ears off completely? Are the hogs with no ears cut? I have heard they notch the ear to know they have been cut and you can see it in a scope (before thermal). But cut off completely??
I've killed two this year that had both notched/cut ears and were castrated. One was a small boar between 100-125 lbs. The other was the largest boar I've killed or seen in person, measuring 58" around the chest (380 lbs).
Bobcat with a Pulsar Trail XP50. Season starts in a week.................it'll be a different outcome then. 
Dropped this guy at 0430 this AM. After identifying the coyote with my helmet mounted PVS-14, I had enough moonlight to use my NF day scope/illuminated reticle to make the shot at 200 yards.
More work travel than I like for this time of year, so not getting out as much as I usually do. Big girl from a couple weeks ago. 1 55gr SP from my 12" sbr w/ XP38 behind the ear. DRT

First time being able to post here, third time out night calling and first night out since getting my used reap Ir and the wind not blowing 30-60 MPH. I mounted it on my AT in Mpa chassis for now running a 21” 260 with prime ammo. Thunderbeast ultra 9 for suppressor. Rifle isn’t my long term plan but was my shortest lightest option for now. My buddy has a 224 Valkyrie and a trail xp38.
Started at 8:45 and saw two coyotes that responded to call but wouldn’t pursue it. Moved to a new location and didn’t see anything but started to get a lot of howling back at us.
Third location. I howled a few times with mouth call and in a few minutes had a single come in but couldn’t get a clear shot due to a small ridge between us, could just see his head bobbing. Within 2-3 minutes two others joined him and the pack of 3 milled around and barked and howled but never came within comfortable range to get more than one decent shot. After they moved off west another single came in on a dead run and made it to the same little ridge and went East never slowed down for a clean shot. While my buddy watched that one running East I was watching another single come from north and he was hanging up in similar location to where the 3 had. Finally after a couple minutes of hanging up I took a long shot estimated 250-275 yards and he dropped. Tough bastard though, he started trying to get up and work down the hill so I shot again and took out back legs and once he stopped trying to run I anchored him with a head shot. There was another single a quarter mile to the north that I think we could have gotten in but after follow up shots he spooked off.
first shot looks to have been through the rib cage, second one took out back wheels and I didn’t flip him over to take a picture of his head from third shot.
We ended up seeing 8 total coyotes in 2 hours of calling. Saw another set on my way home I pulled over and scanned an area. Just need to get in deeper to areas when loud crunchy snow is gone for shorter shots.

Very nice{ were you shooting off a bipod or just up against a tree? For my application that's a tough shot. Shooting on the move is challenging.
This hunt cost me some money and made me feel very inadequate. Trijicon REAP 35mm compared to my Trail xp38 was night and day difference on long range ID’ing!! Not that the xp38 is bad but for our treeless landscape we hunt in ID’ing coyotes at 500+ yds is a must.
Of course I had to upgrade today ?

Good question, I forgot to include details. First and second shot were from my tripod with leveling base and arca clamp with MPA clamped in. Very stable shot. The third shot was as we were approaching him at 100-150 yards out off a corner fence post when I saw he was still alive, another stable rest.

This boar showed up an hour before sunset this evening. So many hogs ruining deer season this year.
Heard a couple packs of coyotes “talking” south and west of my house so went out and called for 10 minutes and had this single come in. He come up the backside of a ridge I couldn’t see until he crested it at about 85yds out. A single 60gr vmax from the Valkyrie did the trick.

That's a big coyote. They are much smaller here in GA. Good god that guy could take down a white tail.
Speaking of White Tails. Check out this vid. Bet them 2 bucks never go up to spar with another buck, EVER. LOL
