High guys, I've got a question. I'm having a new 6.5 being built at the moment. I'm looking for new glass for it. I currently have two NF NXS 5.5-22x50 with the MOAR reticle and I love them. Is the ATACR a better scope? I know that this is a loaded question. I just want to see what real world people have to say, not what the sellers have to say. Not that the NXS was bad, but is the glass better? I know the ATACR is shorter, 34 mm tubes, and has 120 mins of travel. Aside from the travel, is it a "better" scope?
Thanks,
Will

I was waiting to see what changes NF was going to show off at SHOT SHOW this year I must admit that I am a little disappointed that they have not offered any new reticles for the ATACR. I was wanting to see them add the npr 1 reticle it would have added 10 MOA over the reticle now offered.

I would get the ATACR instead of an NXS.

Don't know about your reticle preference since mine is the Mil/Mil (MIL-R).

Have had two NF NXS and they were OK, but the ATACR seems to be a better quality scope.

Our team ran the NXS for years and then went to the ATACR. What I can say is the glass is outstanding and on par with my Steiner. Low light performance is much better then the NXS, and the FOV is huge. Even at closer distances we shoot, 15 yards sometimes, there is still a very nice wide FOV. It quality and build is exactly what you would expect from NF. At a recent sniper school I let the other shooters play with it a bit and it was an overwhelming hit with everyone. I also love the MOAR and using it for range calculations was no issue at all. Bottom line it is the best scope I have had the opportunity to get behind. I know there are mil/ffp shooters out there but for my application, and those not requiring ffp and prefer moa this is about as good as it gets.
