This weekend I finally got a chance to do some load development. I went with the OCW method and need some pointers on interpreting my results.

Now when I find my load, how much should I mess with seating depth? How much should I increase the length for the next round of tests?

Here is te first target. As you can see, I lost count on my last round of shots and my shot that was supposed to be for the #7 target I shot on the #8 target

On target #3 I pulled that shot and called it.

Perfect. :)

45.6 is the OCW, and I'm not sure you're really going to need to alter seating depth any at all, unless it's for the purpose of tightening ES and/or bring the cold, clean bore shot onto the group that follows it.

That shot going left in the 45.3 group may have been pulled. It's got no real business being where it is (based on the bracketing points of impact)...

The "scatter node" as I call it is at the 46.2 grain area... Go down 1.5% or up 1.5% from the scatter node and you're on the OCW. Downward, that takes you to 45.6 grains. I'd call that done, and done well.

Im going to do OCW maybe next week with a few loads and I hope I get a clear winner like this. My fear is I will get like 5 loads that are like the 45.6g load above and go WTF, WHICH ONE DO I CHOOSE.

When I get good results across the board I go with the fastest bullet at the best accuracy. Thats as long as the pressure isn;t bad or will be bad in hot weather.

Good luck OP. I would play around in the 45.6 area and see if it's consistant.

I also shoot the 168 amax and smk's. I'm running another powder but OCW did prove the same charge for both rounds and they yield almost the same accuracy. Only difference is the amax holds tighter 300 and beyond. One thing I did notice while developing is the tip to base length. The smk's are shorter so I seat ogive so they both jump the same.
