OCW --- why different charge weights in sighters?

I tried the OCW test technique for the first time the other day. What I don't understand is ... Why do the 3 sighters have different charge weights? It seems to me that you could sight in your rifle better (and more accurately) if the 3 sighters had the same charge weight, for example, the charge weight just below the weight at which you begin the round-robin shooting. Can someone help me understand? Thanks.

I've never bothered with "sighters" for sighter's sake, over the past 8 or 9 years of using OCW.

But.......translated for those who need it translated, this means you CAN, IF you WANT to, use the lowest set of charge weights to shoot as "sighters". I don't think Dan intends for you to use different charge weights to sight in your rifle.

Thanks Tripwire. Makes sense to me. I'll use a consistent lower charge weight round for sighting purposes.

Sighters are useful here because it not only allows you to ensure you get on target but avoid that cold bore shot which in many rifles could be quite a bit off than the following shots.

Also if you have been using a different powder, I have heard that its a good idea to put a few rounds down the barrel with the new powder you will be using. Not really sure if it makes a difference or not but I dont figure it will hurt. In my OCW I just used 4 sighters all the same weight and it worked out just fine.
