So I was getting ready to make 500 or so 308 reloads and something crossed my mind. How many rounds of 308 does it take,on average, for A factory barrels lands to recede (let's say .005")?

    What about 338lm?

Just checked my barrel and it's been around 500-1000 rounds. Still around the same as it was, so will check again in 500-1000 rounds. I just didn't want to load 500 rounds and have the last of it shoot bad because it wasn't in the sweet spot anymore.

I've got an ~8 year old Savage 10FP LE2b .308 with about 3,300 documented rounds down the pipe and depending on my measuring technique at the time and the particular bullets I'm using, I've lost anywhere from .030"-.045", IIRC.

I can't say if things are linear, or exponential, as I wasn't measuring every 500 rounds.

Same here. Passed the 4k round count and it still shoots 175gr Nosler Custom Comps great.

My rifle shoots best at magazine length and the last time I checked Jump, I could have measured it with a tape measure

I'm wondering if I ever will have to replace this barrel.

Actually TL, it takes so long, your knees will be sitting on your balls when you crawl into that gay blue car of your's.

I would buy that jump all day long, the jump in my remington 5R is also extremely rediculous (IMO). I really am not sure how the rifle can shoot so well.
Back to topic, I think the cleaning, ammunition (velocity), twist rate and material of the barrel all come into play here.
