Maybe I missed this earlier and it has already been addressed, but is there anything we can do about squadding. I have a buddy coming down to shoot and we would at least like to start on the same squad if possible.
A few weeks before the event we'll send out an email blast to get squad requests and confirm attendance.
Like last year we'll have "complexes" and "groups".

I will be following the smell looking for the ELK. Look for the guy with his nose in the air trying to track you down.
I will probably be grilling at the KOA as well, think I'm almost out of elk but did just butcher a tasty beef.
As soon as the match dates were announced, I called and reserved both of the cabins for the whole week. I took my trailer last time, but it cost me a lot more in gas than I thought because of the headwind we drove through, both ways...lol.

Are there still competitor slots available? I am a new long range shooter and thinking about participating as my first comp. What are the details on the stand bye list? Is it too late to be guaranteed a spot?
Flying into Denver 22nd at 1130 probably won't be to Douglas till 1600. What is schedule of events? What will I miss? Maybe I can catch a red eye instead

We have over 100 shooters but can easily manage more. So have him sign up in the same place in the Store.
As noted we wanted to get as many people shooting as possible, so we kept registration open.
One more question...(I admit, I'm a newbie, but I hate losing) I'm attempting to figure out what gear is necessary vs wasted vs not allowed. So if I'm at the course that requires both rifle and pistol shooting, and I've read that in previous years, I must carry all my gear through the course...can I set some gear down as I shoot the pistol, or am I required to not only transport the gear through the course, but also wear it as I'm shooting, or can I set an item down as I'm shooting the pistol, and then pick it up and move on?
Per rule 2-4, any shooting accessories you use, you need to bring to every stage. That's so you don't ditch your heavy tripod or whatever for an advantage when your buddy in a different squad tells you you don't need it anymore.
You should be prepared to take all your stuff that you need for a complex to the staging area, with you through the stage, and to the next staging area. We might have you shoot a pistol with a slung rifle and carrying whatever other stuff you'd need later in the stage.

If you're still looking for a place to stay, the Hotel Higgins in Glenrock was just fine. Be advised, it's purported to be haunted!!! History channel had a Ghost Hunters episode at this locale.

3) Shooting a 'newbie' round like the 308
4) Looking for advice on what to/not-to bring?
I'm packing a Remmy 700 .308 that has been chopped to 17 inches, sitting in a Mcree's folder stock, 12-22 NF ZS, Atlas bipod with several 5 and 10 round Mcree mags. Shooting factory FGMM 175's because this gun is a .5 MOA rifle with 'em (probably better with a better operator)
Bringing:
1) Can for both rifle and pistol portions (pending BATFE approval for xfer and xport)
2) Sig P226 for pistol portions (Blackhawk tac holster, also how many rounds/mags will we need for pistol portion?)
3) Bushnell Fusion RF, 12x50
4) A pickup truck with a tent, BBQ and lots of homebrews
5) Positive, humble attitude knowing that I will make many, many newbie errors

I'm 31, in shape and looking forward to having fun while trying to not look stupid.

2. Don't get frustrated, use it to learn and before you walk off take notes. The less mistakes you make twice the better.
3. Talk to people, there is a lot of talent, ask questions. Understand you'll be outgunned, doesn't matter, there are techniques that can help you be more efficient that has nothing to do with the gun or caliber. Watch how these guys manage their time, how they prep prior to the stage, and what they do after.
4. Know your dope, know your wind holds and have everything laid out so you can reference your information easily. Have an idea of the wind before you step up, and then just apply to right dope to the wind & range.

I did see the link to add options to my registration. However, I cannot figure out how this works. I didn't see any options after clicking on the link. Can I still add the train up?

I missed the sign up, but would like to come as a spectator. I want to get my 5 boys interested even more...and the missus. Is this event set up to handle spectators, or just competitors?

Anyone from the Ohio/Indiana Area considering driving? If so, shoot me a PM I'm trying to find some car poolers...I'm fine to drive my wife's Honda civic, can take 1 possibly 2 more. I am not shooting the train up. Will more than likely leave directly after the match.

3. On cart page hover over orders tab. Click on add options to order.
4. Find order, it's the one you probably paid $300 for, click add.
5. Choose option from drop list, add then click next.
6. Proceed to payment, watch your email inbox for confirmation email.
7. Show up, bring "A" game, smile!!

I shot as a newbie last year and shooting as a newbie +1 this year. This is not a gear match by any means, definitely a riflemans match. Everyone was more than friendly and the more experienced guys offered up good advice. No matter what it is a very good time and a great learning experience.
I am right there with you brotha!! all except the the .308
This will only be my 3rd or 4th match (depending on how busy i am the 11th) with my first one being just this last march. i am 33 and have been so damn busy working i have barley had the time to get dope i feel comfortable with. Both matches ive shot i spent the first 2 paper stages getting zero scores and dialing in so i need to work on having a better zero to start with. That being said, i figure what better way to learn then to shoot along side the best!!!! Hope to see you there!Brett
I too am new to shooting long range. I have been practicing out to 800 yds in winds up to 25MPH and have been succesful 60 to 70% of the time at ringing gongs on a friends property.
I am from Casper, WY so Douglas is only 50 miles away. I just couldn't pass up the chance to shoot a match like this so close to home.
I will bringing my trailer and probably staying at the range.

I have been reloading a lot to find best load and have settled on Berger 185gr VLD.

the Squadding Email is going out today, as well we want people to confirm their attendance beyond the payment.
We have over 125 shooters attending, so we want to make sure we split everything up properly. Also only have 1 person from the requested squad contact Zak. We don't need 130 separate emails, so if one guy can say, please include A, B, C, D, E, in Squad 1 that would be great.
I have also reopened registration for a few days. Over the weekend 3 people contacted me trying to register and of course it was closed. But I have opened it back up until May 14th...
Lastly
If you know anyone who was thinking about shooting but didn't feel strong enough to take the plunge, and they want to RO, we can always use a few more to help with the flow. We have rooms available for ROs we secured them for you and we'll make sure you eat. So if you know someone willing to help out, please bring them or let us know. They can watch how it works, get a feel for the competitors and events and then next time they want to shooter we can also offer a free slot to a match. If we can double up the ROs that would great, this way guys don't have to run stages alone.

The SHC in its current format does not have "squads" exactly the same as other matches. We split the entire match into 5 "Groups", each group will shoot a "complex" in the same half-day time slot. Each group will be 20-28 shooters. A complex consists of 3 stages that are within easy walking distance. Based on your squadding requests we'll try to keep everyone in the same group.
Within a group, the starting "stage within the complex" starting order is randomized from complex to complex, so you might not be right next to your buddy, but you can carpool together to the parking areas and be in the same general area.
