great pics everyone!! so how much for a dta hti with just 375ct barrl and break? also heres a concern of mine........ since at this time in my life i live in communist cali, and this peace of crap state govermnt banned lead ammo.... what metal will be replaced over lead?

All copper bullets. I'm stuck too! but good luck patrolling that. Just when you hunt don't use lead

HTI with 375CT conversion is about $7k. Snipershide discounts available. :)

Cutting Edge makes a "hunting" version of their 352GR lathe-turned solid, so no worries there.

Give me a call and we'll get you setup!

Desert Tech Europe

Could DT USA please give DT Europe a nudge and ask them to let me know what has happened to the gen 1 barrel extension I've been waiting for? I can't seem to get an answer from them.

Ordered a gen 1 260 barrel and was given a gen 2 last year. I didn't make a fuss and was told they would swop out the extensions as soon as a gen 1 extension arrived from the USA. When I've been chasing this over the last few months my emails and phone calls don't normally get a response.

Appreciate I'm only an individual buyer so am not as important as a military/ law
enforcement contract but I was an early adopter in the UK back in 2010 and have spent the sterling equivalent of nearly 10000$

My friend, A little known fact is that A gen 1 rifle will run a Gen 2 extention. Just put the barrel in, ensure the bolt runs back and forth smooth, and torque it in. I have not run a Gen 1 extension in my Gen 1 gun in a couple years, or somewhere between 4000-6000 rounds. My wife got 42nd in the Surefire PRS shoot with this set up last weekend.

Take care,
Ty

Well, it has been a pretty decent year and I qualified for the PRS Finale again with Desert Tech's help. This year I have decided that I am tired of "tactical" colors. I wanted something different and so I Cerakoted all of my competition guns crimson and black. Next weekend, Texas will see this:

Some people hate it, but I think it is pretty sick!

Ty,

Do your gen 2 barrels always go back on the same rotational axis, ie the top of the barrel is always aligned with the top of the chassis? I'm waiting to get brakes timed to my barrels, so I want the barrels to be in the right rotational axis to ensure the brakes are timed properly. Also with the right extension it is much quicker, in my opinion, to align the barrel with the receiver

Additionally, do you get an exact return to zero each time with the Gen 2 barrels? I'm not a 100% convinced I do, due to the barrel possibly being rotated slightly differently from the prior time. Of course, as with a lot of things I may be completely wrong on this point.

I get 100% return to zero every time! I go through two barrels and use my DTA scope mount on 5 different rifles with nonissues returning to zero. You tube it... it shows someone removing the barrel a bunch with no change in accuracy, zero, and poi shift

CJ,
Yes, they go on the same rotational axis. They have to or the bolt will hang up. I have two chassis, and over 10 different barrels in different calibers. They all clock perfect regardless of which chassis they are on.

If you clock a brake to a barrel, then later switch to any other extension, it may change though.

I'd like to say yes to you on the second issue because I am sure it doesn't matter, but I won't because honestly I don't worry about that anymore and stopped doing that. When I just had a 308 and a 338, I knew that the 338 shot .7 left and .2 lower. I could just change barrels, adjust and rezero turrets and go on with life. Now with so many different barrels, I just shoot a couple rounds, measure with my reticle, and change if needed. I even do that when I know my gun is zeroed and I show up to shoot the same barrel. Usually it is the same. Sometime it moves. Why? I dunno, I am laying different, ate bad Mexican, or simply just because. :)

IMHO, a LOT of the features on the SRS exist not out of necessity, but rather to provide peace of mind to the user. Because lets just face it, it makes people nervous to switch barrels. My dad is a hunter, and it still gives him heart palpitations to adjust his scope or rezero. When he sees me take the barrel out of my rifle he almost faints. I have not used the "barrel lock" on the left hand side of the rifle in 3 years. I know a certain guy who shot an entire match (did real well), and at the end realized his barrel was not even torqued in.

Hope this helps,
Ty

Ty,

Many thanks for a really informative answer.

I guess my problem is I can only rationalise a gen 1 extension working properly with a gen 1 chassis, even though that is clearly not the case. Also it's a point of principle for me as well. I was told this would be sorted out and it havsn't been yet.

Cheers

Ceri

geez!!! i can't stop stairing at that pic, hhmm but that is some fun seat time with that!! gona start saving for it. you only live once. how many shots tell your shoulder cant take it or whats the limit for that round for barrel?

That thing is a puppy dog to shoot. I've spent a total of about 1500rnds with an HTI in 375CT... and they are without a doubt the most superior platform for that cartridge on the face of the earth. You can shoot it all day long if you can afford it. I'm not sure where barrel life will end up, as I've sold my last 2 HTI's to customers. They found a lot of value in me doing all the leg work for them. ;) I would expect a couple thousand rounds or close to it before accuracy degradation.

I legitimately have real heartfelt sorrow for guys shooting big bore rifles in traditional configuration. The HTI is so far ahead of its time, people don't even realize just how far until they have a chance to make a direct comparison for themselves.

Given the ballistics of the DT 375CT ammo how far out will that mount/scope combo take you?? Without holding.

By the way thanks for the pic, looks GREAT, are they in stock???
That setup will push me out to 2500yds minimum in just about any AO without holds. It will pass subsonic just after that. Holds will get me another 200-300yds on the main reticle... then the vertical stadia will run out beyond 3000yds+ if I dial back the magnification.

Scopes are trickling in, but we have yet to fill all the back orders. Still have some of our opening order unspoken for. :)

They are a great platform but in windy/dusty conditions I find the movement gets restrictive somewhat, have you observed the same?
Yeah, I haven't found it to be "restrictive" but it does get awfully gritty feeling. That, and I hate reaching up there to adjust the locking lever. (I have an idea for that I'm working on) There certainly is a lot of room for improvement... but it isn't like there is a lot of other options for big bores right now. I'm looking forward to trying the Atlas 5H, but I doubt it will be a world of difference as the cant adjustment is still way forward, prohibiting fine changes in the firing position.

This question is more toward the DTA crew but anyone can give their thoughts. Are there any plans to ever stop production of Gen. 1 barrel adaptors?

Edit: I know you can run a Gen. 2 barrel adaptor on a Gen. 1 chassis but I'd rather have what was actually designed for my rifle.

DT has on several occasions stated their ongoing support to providing Gen 1 adapters for the Gen 1 rifles in this thread. This is a committed company that will stand the test of time, at least in the world as we currently know it!

Good to know and thanks for the answer! I've read through most this thread but somehow got caught up in a the gun porn and missed this information lol.

Video intermission :) at 3m35s, this guy is nailing all the steel plates, easy peasy!!

That is me at 3m 35s shooting my SRS at the Utah State Sniper Shoot last week. This was my first time shooting the my rifle in about 8 weeks and it shows. I need to work a bit on my speed (It also probably didn't help that I was running on 2 hours of sleep). I ended up taking 3rd at the match and came home with a Nightforce SHV scope.

I wish there were 10 round mags for this rifle. Every stage required 10 rounds, which meant a mag change and lost time on each stage.

I have been a Premier Dealer for DTA for 4 years and been shooting this rifle ever since becoming a dealer. My SRS was primarily purchased to be used as a demo rifle and morphed into my match rifle. The SRS platform has some distinct advantages over a typical match rifle. It is about a foot shorter, is much easier to shoot unsupported (feels significantly lighter than it is), is much quicker to maneuver in and out of barricades, and the monopod is incredible. Its weak points are shooting left handed and it's biggest weakness in matches is the lack of a 10 round mag. I can live with having to lift my head when forced to shoot left handed, but the mag situation is becoming frustrating for a match rifle. This match was decided by less than 3 precision bolt action shots. Changing mags cost me the opportunity to take 5 additional shots.

All that being said, I love my SRS. It has been a fantastic rifle. All factory caliber conversions have been sub half MOA and this .260 conversion along with the TBAC 30BA has been one sweet shooting setup. I have also loved shooting the Premier and look forward to receiving some Tangent Theta scopes. The Premier / Tangent Theta scope are a match made in heaven for a switch caliber rifle like the SRS.

In the past, there has been no better scope for DTA owners than the Premier. Now, Tangent Theta is the king of the pile for sure. That zero stop adjustment makes switching between barrels easier than ever. We too have been a premier dealer for DTA for several years, and I've yet to find a better rifle system in all that time.

Nice Shooting Rob! I'm amazed that there weren't more DTAs given that it's a Utah shoot at North Springs! DTA and Utah and North springs are like apples and pie and ice cream!

I will say that the guy with the gas gun and presumably the etched reticle was pretty fast....until his (presumably) .308 ran out of gas at the 800 yard mark.....

Thanks!

The guy running the Gas Gun, was shooting a 6.5 CM and using a Horus Reticle Scope. He also loaded and shot more than 10 rounds (number of rounds on the stage), which would usually result in a zero for the stage. He is fast with his rifle and is getting better every time out. He actually wanted an SRS before the gas gun, but ultimately decided he didn't want to deal with not having 10 round mags for a comp gun. I know there are some other local shooters that would switch over to an SRS if 10 round mags were available.

I was the only one running an SRS in the match. However, another local competitor that was there just picked up an SRS and 6.5 CM conversion from me last week. I am sure he will be shooting it at future comps. Once people actually get behind an SRS, they often walk away from the experience wanting one.

I need to get you to attend one of these matches with me. You would love it.

Lots of good info here guys, maybe I missed it somewhere but can anyone verify that the newest A1 handguard will indeed fit the early Gen 1 chassis properly. I have no need for all the rails on my current setup and prefer the smaller profile of the A1 rail. Thanks guys

Great shooting!

I couldn't agree more about the Premier. I have tried to like the Kahles and SnB I had but find myself always going back to my trusty Premier. I did love the SnB but on my TRG.

ever get the feeling, walking by a mannequin, that you just want to kick it in the crotch because its just so stupid looking? no....just me?
ive been a dta shooter for a couple years now and i am as big a fan as could be. ive read every single page on this thread; and of all the complaints ive ever heard or problems ive personally experienced with the rifle, never once has the bolt arm been discussed. i mean people talk about how its on the wrong side all the time, but ive never heard anyone say: "you know that damn dta bolt arm sure is weak, matter of fact mine broke clean off the other day...." what is this shit? give me a ten round mag for crying out loud. give me some plastics that dont look like they came from a dollar store cap gun set. the srs is propably the most versatile rifle system in existence today. the srs shouldnt need to apologize for anything. this ridiculous bolt arm thing is just another item that will need justification.

I heard from DTA that is bolt arm is easier to produce than the previous model.

I keep hearing 10 round mags are coming and I hope it is true. These 6 rounders are a huge handicap in most matches.

for what a dta costs i hope its hard as fuck to produce. i dont want to show up to a match with a 15lb tampon box for a gun.
nice shootin at the match btw rob.
