Hey maybe someone knows this...
I'm looking for a new barrel (my rifle is LH) and was looking at the barrel extension. I cannot find any reason why
there should be a difference between the left hand and right hand barrel extensions.
Maybe you can tell me? Bolt head is different obviously....

I’m not sure what the exact difference is but they do differentiate between RH and LH extensions. They’re stamped RH/LH. I called desert tech directly to confirm there was a difference when I first bought my SRS.
Doesn’t a left handed bolt need to close toward the left to tighten the bolt and a right handed tightens toward the right? I would think the bolt lugs would need to be different then?

The biggest difference in the extensions is that the right hand bolt locks up clockwise and the lefty counterclockwise. This means the lead in for each lug is in opposite direction and on the opposite side. That makes it pretty much impossible to use a right for a left or vice versa. There may be a difference in the rotational location of the lugs as well so that the bolt head from one won't line up in the other when in the rifle.

So I met up with cah300 this morning. Nice guy. We banged steel at 1025rds and I got to a mile , well 1771yds for my first time. Awesome day. Just got the mile 22’’ target up the other week and just got a chance to shoot.
Thanks for the invite. Had a blast. Steel was singing with that 338. Not many people would have done that.
And in other news...an SRS is in my near future.

Something about the Elite Iron bipod, looks so right on the DTA platform. Your set up just looks so bad @$$. I think you will be well pleased.
The RH and LH bolts are obviously different because of the rotation and lug leads. The differences on the barrel extensions is much harder to see. Both extensions index off of the feed ramp, but the LH and RH are clocked slightly different. At a glance, it is hard to see, but if you put a LH barrel in a RH chassis, you can see it, and the bolt will not go in. Here are some pics for those who might be interested in looking:
Anyone have recommendations on a sturdy MLOK picatinny rail, preferably aluminum? I want one as long as possible that fits on the A2 handguard with as many attachment bolts as I can fit to reduce the chance of torquing it out or damaging the rail with the stress of loading a heavy bipod. There's a lot of leverage going on there.

You nailed it. I've made up a couple aluminum rails for friends who broke their plastic ones with normal use. Hanging the rifle from the bipod makes more sense too. Gravity helps that way instead of needing to be fought.

One more thing; the Elite Iron consumes 5 pic rail slots, or 2-1/2”, so you don’t really need one much longer than that for an A2 rail. Also the set screws don’t need to be torqued down, only tight enough to make sure the bipod doesn’t slide off the end of the pic rail.
Here it is attached to the Seekins 5 slot pic rail, the shortest they have. The Seekins 5 slot pic rail fits the Elite Iron Revolution perfectly.

What are the options for picatinny rails on the SRS A1?
The original Desert Tech rail segments are made of polymer, but I'd very much like an aluminum rail segment.
Are there third parties that make SRS A1 rail segments?
Maybe it’s just me but it seems like Greg has fallen off the map. I haven’t seen a post or even a YouTube video from primalrights in a long time. It’s a shame because he has some good information.

I think he was just tired of the bashing and his so called misinformation that he felt was going on here. He is an extremely smart guy, innovative thinker does have great info but sometimes he could rub people the wrong way and the war of words would start.
I’ve had the pics rails on order for 6 months and I can’t get a good answer on when he will have any more. I’ll try to reach out again and see what I can find out.

I just went over to Gun Hive and it doesn’t look like anyone is working it. Most of the post look to be about a year old. I hate that because Greg is a very smart and knowledgeable person. He was making some awesome accessories too. I wish him well and hope everything is ok.
Those MDT rails look like the ticket, thanks! Wish they had the MLOK nuts a little more densely spaced but I'm not too worried about it.

Yes they do, but there are a couple of different methods the handguard attaches to the chassis. Either it has this screw (keyed) or it doesn’t.
Does anyone have a good spigot mount that would work on the SRS A-1 for a bipod? I have an Atlas 5H. If’s there’s something nice and sturdy out there I’d like to try it.

Did you take a look at the Fortmeier bipod? (Google Fortmeier H210 for example)
Curious if anyone else has run into this. I've been thinking about picking up an a2 chassis and I would need a pic section to mount a clip on. I guess it's not the end of the world but can anyone verify if barrels can be swapped with a rail section at 12 o'clock toward the end of the rail?
Just got my new A2! What a freakin masterpiece. I love this thing. With the 26” a2 6.5creed barrel plus suppressor and bipod it weighs 15 pounds. With my proof carbon 338 lapua barrel it only weighs 13 pounds! Thats with the monopod and bipod! I bet i can get close to 10 pounds if i take the monopod and bipod off and swap out the srs handgaurd for the covert one. What a lightweight and compact hammer for a hunting rifle!

Heres a pic of the a2 at the end of the HG with a mlock bipod mount at the 6 oclock position. No problems swapping barrels. I dont see why you couldnt change barrels if it was at the 12. Hope this helps.

The top rail is closer to the bore than the rest and the barrel shank is larger than the rest of the barrel contour
There is definitely some extra screw sticking through that could be ground off to make room also

I have a different butt pad that I got for mine. Really adjustable. It uses the same t-torque wrench for changing barrels to lock the adjustment. Can’t remember we’re i got it from. I wanted to say sac, but I think it was from another guy that made a limited run of them on here. It’s somewhere in this thread.

Yeah, that dude used to be at SAC, but is no longer there. I don’t think he’s making those pads anymore.
I had a good conversation with Greg at Primal Rights today and he has no plans to carry the pic rails any longer for the A1 as the A2 has gone to a different configuration. He said he has to order them from the manufacturer he uses in 100 pc batches and his backlog is almost non existent so he really can’t justify the capitol for an item that will just sit on the shelf. However I’m sure if enough of us called and ordered he may do one more batch. Also he knows of no one else that are making these so if you want one give him a call and place an order, hopefully he will change his mind. I backorder 4 of them so only 96 more to go!
