This is my first post, sorry for just jumping in. Will this thing help protect the bolt channel from debris? If so where can I look at these?

As you can easily see from the photos I posted, it does not cover the bolt channel. It would be very difficult to do that and still be able to work the bolt. I did not list Brian's website address in the post because he is not a sponsor here. Question on trigger creep on the DTA.
I purchased a DTA earlier this year, it is GEN I.
Is this the minimum amount of trigger creep you can get out of it?

The rifle shoots great and is .5 MOA or better but the trigger is the only thing, I am not completely happy with. It is nice and light on the pull but the creep is a bit excessive to me.
From the instructions the front trigger adjustment is all the way clockwise.

Saw your vid. I've shot two DTA's. They both had much less creep than in your video. They were both gen II. I'd give DTA a ring and see what they suggest.

Watching your video reminds me of my duty Colt AR. The trigger creeps twice every pull. Terrible. Unfortunately I am not allowed to have any work done to.it.
I should also say that I am coming from a heavy competition pistol background. I had heard about bullpup designs and their supposed "bad triggers." I paid particular attention to the triggers on the two rifles I evaluated prior to ordering one. One of the examples had a slight amounts of creep, but was still very acceptable. The other DTA had none at all. Not crisp like a nice custom 1911 (my standard for a nice trigger) or a JP rifle, overall not bad, just sort of disconnected feeling, which makes sense if you think of it.

But then I also read on someone's post that some of them have a "older" style linkage which can have more creep that the newer ones it made me think I should probably find out if mine was normal or not.
It is an odd feel on the pull as it is fairly light to move the trigger just have to move it alot to actually engage it.
My AR has the 2-stage trigger which you take up and then you have a harder break whereas this is more like just all smooth take up then fire.

You cannot do either of those and expect the rounds to magazine. The 300 BO may work once that new 223 conversion by SAC is completed.

If you have a Gen 1 trigger in it and depending on Serial #, you may, call DTA and they will swap it out for you to the current one and its a major improvement. I have two of the first 100 Gen 1s made. When I sent one back to be made into a Covert they updated the trigger and OMG its sweet. The other one has NO creep at all bit its not as light as the new one.

Most rounds tend to be in the 150-175 but I am pretty sure Southwest ammunition sells a 175gr, 190gr and 220gr subsonic round.

Loaded subsonic .308 not many -- I think the only I've seen is http://www.ebr-inc.net/762ThumperSubsonic.html.
Load your own. My favorite factory bullets for subsonic .308 are Sierra or Hornady 220gr RN. Hornady makes a 225gr BTHP I use, and it's currently more expensive but Sierra's 240gr BTHP is at the limit for subsonic stability. (Note that ballistic coefficient isn't very important for subsonics; these just happen to be the heaviest .30" bullets on the market.)
The smartest guy I know for subsonics is user bohem, and he says you get much better consistency with cast lead bullets. He casts up to 250gr for .308 subsonics and shoots them with a crimped Hornady gas check.

There are enough differences in the Gen II design to make it a better long term investment. Both are very capable, but why chose the older design over the more evolved one?
As for the barrel, you can get a 7WSM from DTA using their Lothar-Walther barrels which anyone who owns an SRS will tell you are plenty accurate. However, if your desire is to have a Benchmark barrel, then what you'll need to do is buy a chassis, bolt, barrel extension and magazine from DTA. Then take it to a smith to cut and fit the barrel to.

I would guess threading the barrel to either extension is the same but replacing the indexing pin is probably something you need DTA to do. But why guess when you can just call DTA for a straight answer?

Indexing pin is easily replaced by the owner. It's a sacrificial pin and if care is taken you will never cause damage. If you gorilla it, like I did, cheap and easy fix.

i'm telling you guys, i'm hard as hell on my gear. i had a gen 1 for years. i never broke the pin. i changed barrels on a really regular basis. NEVER BROKE A PIN, my chassis had thousands of rounds through it.

Thanks folks for your input, I'm off to get me one of these. I'm assuming the pins aren't delicate but just the same I treat my equipment with care anyway and since I have other rifles set up in other calibers I doubt if will see many barrel changes right off the bat. Who am I kidding...

Mine is Gen1, no problems with the pin. I don't try to break it, but I don't treat it like gently either.
I'm sure I could break it if I wanted, but the same could be said of anything.

I'm new to the board and have a lightly used DTA SRS covert coming my way. It started life as a Covert and was purchased new in May of 2011. I've asked the seller to advise me if the S/N started with "DTA" or "SRS" as I am wondering if it is Gen I or Gen II chassis so I can order a caliber conversion. Unfortunately, the seller has packed and sent it and doesn't know the S/N. Are all Coverts Gen II, or is it possible it could be either? Don't get me wrong if they offered it I woud probably do it too, just cuz but it's not something that should sway anyone from buying a SRS. They are a awesome system.

Too early to say on a adjustable cheek piece on the SRS, if we ever did something it would be retrofittable to all GEN I and Gen II guns though. We have lots of other things on the fire right now.

Looks great! I finally got to test an SRS in 7mm WSM last Thursday evening and I must say I'm sold. It had a Premier 5-25 mounted in a Sphur mount and I had no issues at all. was very surprised but that was from a bench and I bet it's even better prone. The only issue I seen with it was feeding from the mag. I had several issues but the ownwer said he needed to tweek the mag lips and I found that a strange statement??? Is this a common issue with the large mags feeding the 7WSM???

Looks great! I finally got to test an SRS in 7mm WSM last Thursday evening and I must say I'm sold. I know the 7wsm was giving them issues I don't know how common it is I dont think its that odd to have to tweak mags designed for a different caliber.

Hmmm,
I do and... I don't. If a company offers a product designed to work then I don't agree with your statement. On the other hand if an indiviual elects to use a mag for something it's not designed for (done all the time very sucessful most of the time) then I do agree with you. Don't get me wrong I like the system but for the $$$$ I'm getting ready to throw down then... If there are issues I would like to know about them up front and get them resolved.
