Net65 you are going to give me flashbacks bringing up all the old Gen1 bolt problems. I think everyone could breath a little bit easier when the bolt design changed and we got rid of the bushings in the bolt face. From reading your list everything you mentioned has been addressed, I'm positive you would be much happier now.Q
Yeah, I’ve been following DT since they came to market and there’s
They have had little issues the correlate to QC and not design. Had a SRS that would produce excessive metal shavings in the bolt raceway, probably defective coating or salt bath nitriting, whichever they use. There was a bad run of firing pins or bolts, I can’t remember. Bad run of extractors. I had a HTi that would not chamber a 50 round when it arrived, there was a pressfit bushing in the bolt face that was sticking out a quarter inch. How is a weapon test fired at the factory before shipping out when it can’t even chamber a round?
I love their guns, they’re designs are great, usually. But they’re quality control is terrible, and the customer service used to be just as bad, not sure if it still is.
All that said, I’ll probably be buying a A2 soon.
Not sure if you are the same individual I've been speaking with on Facebook but I'll post here as well. I'm a couple days late to this forearm party, but here you go.Does anyone know if the SRSa1 Covert handguard work on the Desert Tactical SRS Gen 1?
I have a monopod on my srs a1 that’s not working. Do I need to send back for repair? Not sure if you are the same individual I've been speaking with on Facebook but I'll post here as well. I'm a couple days late to this forearm party, but here you go.
Gen1 - Quad Rail, keyed, SRS
Gen2 - Quad Rail, keyed, SRS, Covert (compatible* with Gen1)
A1 hybrid - Top Rail, keyed, SRS, Covert(compatible* with Gen1, Gen2)
*May not align perfectly, and may require some paint removal or addition to align perfect with a snug fit
A1 - Top Rail, SRS, Covert (Not backwards compatible)
A2 - Keymod, SRS, Covert (Not backwards compatible)
Buttpads - *Note* - the A1 hybrid buttpad, was used only as an upgrade for Gen1, 2. A1 hybrid rifles have the actual A1 buttpad setup with the hook.
Gen1 (meat tenderizer) - Release button slid into panel
Gen2 (meat tenderizer) - To accomodate monopod, release button slid up into assembly (compatible with Gen1 but will leave a small empty hole in your buttstock, unless you upgrade panels too)
A1 hybrid (soft rubber) - Release built into spacers, Does not have the top hook to lock into the stock panel (higher risk of breaking locking tabs than standard A1, built for Gen1 and Gen2)
A1 (soft rubber) - Release built into spacers, Incorporated the top hook to lock into the panels(Not backwards compatible without modifications to spacers, or panels)
Honestly depends on what the problem is and if you are handy with parts. Sometimes we are able to walk the user through a simple fix.I have a monopod on my srs a1 that’s not working. Do I need to send back for repair?
Who do you guys recommend for getting a custom barrel spun up for my DT? Looking at an improved cartridge, possibly a 300NM imp or 338 Lapua imp

Yes sir, I'm excited to jump back into the Desert Tech game. Gonna wait till I hear a few more reports on the new trigger system. So far I've heard one account of "it feels pretty good" and one account of it feels "cheap". Still trying to figure out why you guys put a threaded hole in the bottom of the chassis, and didn't just make the first several inches of the hand guard Acra.
Damn right.Yep, that pretty much mirrors my thoughts. Could have even made the area in front trigger guard arca as well.
@DTDustin despite my personal views of any given product. I (we) do appreciate company reps braving the sometimes turbulent waters of SH to interact with us.
sweet setup! What’s the length of your barrel? What do you think the longest one this case can handle in an SRS A-1?

Who here has bought a TS customs barrel? How much do they charge? I emailed them but got an auto response, they’re out of the office for a few weeks. I’m looking for a LH 300nm barrel for a SRS A-1
The new design is quite a bit different, and will not "drop in", as it is not just a trigger shoe anymore.Does anyone or has anyone asked if the new flat trigger shoe will fit the A1 trigger.
No. The only available adjustment for the user is the pull weight.Ok it’s not adjustable front and back like the A1?
Sorry to hear about that poor experience with the magazine, you should not have had to do that. We will give our inventory a look today. If your magazine still needs some love I recommend you contact our warranty department to get you taken care of. As for you forearm alignment, it is possible to experience a very slight mis-alignment, however I recommend you contact warranty with a photo at [email protected], so they can see what you are experiencing.@DTDustin
What's the deal with having to remove the burrs of the feed lips on my the magazine that came with my new SRS A1 in 308?
Feeding cartridges was nearly impossible until I did it and when they would finally feed it was like you ran a saw over the shoulder as they made an extremely deep cut in the brass.
I'm not the first one to note having to do this but it's kind of disappointing on an $80+ magazine and something I've never had to do on my AIAT or CTR magazines of which I have 20 of them between the 2 brands.
Also, is it normal for my handguard rail to be slightly off alignment wise? It's not much but it's off. enough that bridging an optic wouldn't be a good idea.
I've never owned a SRS before now but it's kind of disappointing QC so far compared to my AIAT and even my T3x CTR.

Still excited about SAC’s magazine mod he’s working on. If DT smooths out the bolt and SAC fixes the magazine, that make a great rifle that much better.
What is the SAC magazine mod? I’ve missed this
Tony
For those of you who don’t use Facebook; Mark at Short Action Customs posted this last night. Looks like he is trying to address the magazines. I’d love to give them a shot!!

The RRS mount is made specifically for the A1, it attaches via the screw holes in the handguard. I would guess that anyone with a little mechanical prowess could figure out how to make it fit in the MLOK slots. But that has yet to be tried as far as I know.Do you guys know if the RRS Arca mount will work on the A2? @coldboremiracle I am looking to buy a RRS DT mount. Or do I need to buy a Pictanny rail mount with M-Lok?

It sounds like you want the rifle to have Arca Swiss grooves molded into the skins, I think it best to use an adapter attached to the rifle. Made to fit, it would cradle the gun and attach to the provided hole. Most likely aluminum. Strong.
Good question. Why dont you hear about guys using the hti for the ko2 mile competition? Are they not as accurate as a barreled action setup?

I would guess since the HTI was designed for mobility they might be on the light side for Ko2M. Aren’t they shooting 50+ pound rigs there?
Edit: An HTI in .416 Barrett has been on my wishlist for a long time.
How does the SRS shoot in 300 Win Mag? The conversions seem to be hard to find now which seems to indicate that they weren't that popular or didn't work right?
I think I'd rather go 300WM instead of 338LM as I don't need the range of 338LM and I have lots of heavy 308 bullets to use.
Is there a good place to find a kit at hopefully less than full retail?
