I put 12 rds in mine all the time.

Would either of you be willing to post pics of the mag loaded without the bottom plate like @EmanP’s photos, and/or a quick video of you loading 12 rds into the mag?

Curious to see if your mags behave the same as ours

I wish I had seen this thread before I bought the 5 10rnd mags I have. All 5 of them are only good for 5-7 rounds at most. The mags start slightly bulging after 5 rounds, and after 7 rounds I have to force them in to get all 10 and in doing so, it really bulges and causes the ribs to severely indent the case body.

Knowing I'd eventually turn to a Dasher from a Creedmoor when I started loading my own ammo I got some mags awhile ago which I finally set up and shot last weekend. I had the hardest time trying to get 10rds into a 12rd mag. I took it apart and discovered what others here have already said; there is no way 12rds are going to fit into a 12rd magazine. If you take it apart and drop 10rds in and then the follower it sits flush with the very bottom of the body.

And if you drop in 12rds and then the follower it sticks way out.

Also the spacer in there does not lay flat and is bowed. That means when the first few rounds loaded get to the bottom of the magazine the nose is forced into the binder plate/front of it. So it'll at the very least deform the tip of the bullet ruining it's BC and make it more difficult to load that last few rounds as they scrape down and potentially push the bullet deeper into the case changing the OAL.

Sorry to hear that you're having issues, but it seems like there has been a little bit of a mix-up with your magazines/followers? Those appear to be our 10 round followers in your 12 round magazine, which would definitely cause capacity issues! You have a few options on how to solve the capacity and any potential feeding issues, but I would suggest that you contact our customer support team (MDT Customer Support Portal) and they will 100% make it right for you!

On the left is the follower from a 10rnd MDT 308 mag, on the right is the follower from a 10rnd MDT 6BR mag. The 6BR follower is about twice the height of the standard follower. Seems this is the root of the issue right here.

Removing the base plate and loading 10 rounds into the mag and placing the follower on top shows very clearly that the follower is too tall. More than half of the follower stick out beyond the bottom of the mag! This means the follower is bottoming out long before you get 10 rounds in there, and the only way to make room for the remainder is for the cases to pack more tightly together and bulge the mag walls.

Like I said, with mine I am able to load 5-7 rounds before it starts getting very difficult. In order to get all 10 rounds in there it's a battle between the brass and the steel mag walls. The mag wall will give a little, but in the end, it wins the fight and your brass ends up getting hammered.

After a successful run with the br mags, I switched to 25gt and picked up some 308 10rds and ran into issues, seems the back end of the follower was hanging up on the back part of mag. Not wanting to go down it caused nosedives and feeding issues. Sanding of the follower in the trouble spots and tuning feedlips did the trick
