Oh yeah f#$*ing-A right I just did that!!!

Damn you lol!

I tried like hell to get a new in Warehouse Federal Signal Thunder beam. We had it at work as an extra, stainless and powder coated beauty, never seen the elements. From the early 70's. They made a deal with the company doing our siren maintenance to take it. I'll find another one.

Did you paint it inside with Glyptal? Looks great!
I need one for my collection....

That collection is amazing!!!!

What, did you loot the Greenbriar when no one was looking???

Post some close ups and some details on some of the cooler items... is that a geiger counter on the lower shelf??

Beautiful job on that display!

I still know where there is a bunch of this old stuff sitting around. I am in my mid 20s and where I lived they used to use it for natural disasters after the nuke threat was no longer such a big deal. The one old siren was a huge array and could be heard for MILES. They tested it every first of the month.

You really do have to wonder though what he is planning for. Cannons, massive sirens, search lights, etc.
Where Eagles Dare, @sirhrmechanic?

On my way to Range 4 for the day. I’ll post more later.

I want video of the siren, too.

Guessing it only draws max amp on start than will settle to a much lower constant power draw.
That's what it appears to do... The startup load is on a 20 amp breaker... and does not kick it off. Wires are cool to the touch even after a several-minute run (neighbors probably loved that one).

So overall, declaring victory.

Now, on to the 40mm Bofors...

Well, actually the 6 pdr. assembly.

But first I have to finish a speech or I'll get skinned next week.

Cheers,

I’m guessing 230 V single phase. It’ll probably draw 175 or 200 amps on start/inrush for a very short period of time, until the rotor gets further away from zero speed. You ought to be ok since the wiring doesn’t get warm. Besides, it’s not like your going to run it for 8 hours straight (are you ? ???)........

You scare me sir!;)

You remind me of the guy I was talking to a couple of years ago, we were standing next to his Dodge truck and he goes “check this out”, he then proceeds to remotely actuate the horn, which was from a diesel locomotive.
i had a friend in high school with a tiny fiat.
he got a hold of a train horn and compressor and we put them in his little car.
dang!
funny thing was most people couldn't figure out where the sound was coming from (obviously not expecting the Fiat).
