Rifle Scopes OK here goes if one scope wich one??

Re: OK here goes if one scope wich one??

Joey-bag-o-doughnuts

cop a chill bro...

no one is pissin' on anyone for having enough cash to buy 'expensive stuff'... just know what you are buying & why you've made the decision to buy it...dig?

'Cause so & so said is not necessarily a valid answer. Just because you CAN should not be a valid answer either. I CAN buy certain things, but I don't... why.. you ask? Because I know for a FACT that expensive doesn't always equate to the best, or the best to fit your needs...dig on that?

I think the point that is trying to be made here is....

Feel free to purchase WHATEVER you like... but KNOW WHY you are making said purchase & how it works, how it will benefit you, & how it fits in to your overall kit... dig?

Re: OK here goes if one scope wich one??

I only wished I pissed like Ricky Bobby in the morning.

I didnt say you had to shoot for a living to know your gear and how to use it. But, to say or imply that just bc they are taking some online forum classes, they "know their gear and how to use it," is a bit far fetched.

No bragging involved. Bragging would be that I could take a cold bore shot and hit CKAs tiny dick at 1K.

1MOCKA is bragging.

It is SUPPOSED to be fun. I truely think that is the missing ingredient in a lot of range sessions. I really do believe that. I see so many guys that are chasing the "perfect group" that they miss the fun part of the range: shooting, fucking around with your friends, etc. It trips me out when I hear guys who dont do it for a living bitch about "having" to go to the range. Shit, like two weeks ago, I went to the range in a torrential downpour with a few guys. We were there 4 hours and I got off 20 rounds. But, fuck, bro, I had FUN! (Karl2U was there. Not many people can shoot with him and NOT learn something.)

Affording something isnt the issue. With all that fun contractor cash, I can buy what I want. I, like LL said earlier this year, try to get guys to remember to be less of a gear queer and more of a shooter. Example:

My grandfather has hunted ducks forever. When I got into college, I bought me a brand spankin new 870 Super Mag! Woohoo, I can toss 12 pounds of steel at a duck per shot!!! My grandfather shot ducks with a .410. We went to the blind one day during my freshman year. He made me leave my $100 calls in the truck. He called ducks in using his mouth.

He killed MORE ducks with LESS shells with a .410 than my 12 ga super mag. How is this possible?????

He knew his gear. He knew the quarry. He knew HOW to do it. Knowing the HOW, beats anything else.

People tend to forget that.

Re: OK here goes if one scope wich one??

Joey-bag-o-doughnuts, Ha like that name. Dont worry I'm chill and yeah I dig... I'm in the same boat, expensive does not always equate to better - for some people maybe, not for me. Check out my post and look at at what I'm shooting with - not the most expensive stuff out there but it works for me.

Shaggy I did not mean to sound like an ahole. I was just saying that these guys that I shoot with are taking iniative by taking lessons and reading up here on the hide. Trying/applying what they've learned on the website at the range and see if it works. Not everybody have the opportunity/moola to go to school so some training is better than no training at all.

Re: OK here goes if one scope wich one??

Like to argue? If you like doing something, then you should at least be good at it. (Kidding, you left that one wide open.) Had you been through boot, youd have gotten the bag'o'donuts joke better.

I agree. Some training is better than none. But, online only goes so far. Your bros need more than just WWW stuff.

Re: OK here goes if one scope wich one??

Liking and being good at something does not always go together. I like shooting does it mean I'm good at it? Hell no, I get lucky. I like having sex, Am I good at it? That's not what she said... I have been through boot just not your kind of boot and been on active duty for over 5 years.

Also when you went to school they went over it first in a classroom environment right? Then you get to the field and test out what you learned in the classroom. Hopefully they dont just tossed you out on the field senseless...

Why dont you come down to Florida and we'll have some fun. And I said FUN, I'm not that good - I just started shooting LR and reloading about a year ago and I learned most of this stuff from here and from books. I figured, hey we're required to carry a gun at work why not get good at it? or at least decent enough. I cant afford the trip I dont get paid that well...

Re: OK here goes if one scope wich one??

Joey,
I see your point, and I agree. Classroom was prior to all field excercises.

However, (not relating to you) no one else has answered anything else I have said as far as my original questions. Just proves my point. Fucking gear queers.

Re: OK here goes if one scope wich one??

GQ is tha new Vogue.... laffin'

Joey...

'preciate the offer... I may take you up on that...

Save your cash up & come to the Tiger Valley Team Sniper match in the fall... It's plenty fun.. and you get to shoot as well. Great place to apply knowledge & learn a few new things... I learn something new every time... regardless of how many times I've done it.

We camp out up there for the weekend. I have several tents, and there is enough food & beverage to go around... TRUST ME...we eat well...

All you gotta do is get you, your partner, & your gear here, pay the match fee... we'll cover everything else (tents, food, sleeping bag, air mattress, etc.).

peace!

-Wil

Re: OK here goes if one scope wich one??

Thank you shaggy, the respect is mutual. As long as you have a cold Yuengling in the fridge we're gravy. I might just put in for somewhere in TX for my next unit since almost everybody in TX are big supporters of our 2nd Ammendment.

Sounds good Wil, I might take you up on that next year - If you can still remember by then.

Later guys I have some brass prep to do. I will be stretching out my AR10 at 1000 yards this Friday.

Re: OK here goes if one scope wich one??

Apples to apples street price is below 30% difference. And those are the hard #'s! Some think they are worth it; some don't! Unfortunately that's the price to be paid if you want to move up; regardless of how small the gains are!

What hard numbers????!!!! Name it!!!

Name what S&B has over NF:

30% more FOV?
30% better clarity?
30% better reliabilty?
30% more tracking?
30% more elevation?
30% more windage?

What am I "moving up to"??????

Re: OK here goes if one scope wich one??

If you want to keep running your mouth; I prefer that you PM me! BTW what hard facts do you have that supports NF being as good if not better? Better yet what hard #'s do you have to support that NF is better then Leupold?

Re: OK here goes if one scope wich one??

I've already stated that my pref for NF over Leupy is nothing more than preference. I dont claim to have hard numbers on it.

Ive also already stated that S&B is a better scope.

Still waiting on those facts.

Re: OK here goes if one scope wich one??

Hey shaggy, I undersand your point about the nightforce's value for the dollars but I also agree with turk. Once you get into the $1500 and up price range for scopes, the improvements made are going to be pretty minimal with a large increase in price. At that point a small gain in already solid glass and tracking will cost a lot extra to the manufacturer, thus the $3000 price tag on a S&B. So is a S&B worh 30% more, not really but if you want that little bit of improvement han it will cost you. To each his own, if you have the money, go for it!

Re: OK here goes if one scope wich one??

When anything starts to get really good, the law of diminishing returns rears its ugle head.

I'm going to be moving into a Premier 5-25. I really hope it makes my dick 15% bigger, because that'll just about finish the extension I got when I went from Leupy to USO (My little pecker doubled and then some on that one!).

Re: OK here goes if one scope wich one??

For me, riflescope utility is not about magnification, but about acquisition and resolution. As such, I don't honestly believe it is practical to try to produce or envision the single universal solution to riflescope applications. For some, the highest possible magnification is mandated, for others, none at all. Such a scope does not exist, and rightly so.

But that was not the question. So, 3-9x40 .
