MOA/MOA or MIL/MIL?
looking at Vipers, any advantage or just preference?

to me it would seem MOA would be simpler </div></div>

Personal preference as long as the reticle/turrets match.

Re: ok mrad vs the moa in the pst vortex

A few thousand of us use Mil reticles and MOA turrets quite happily.

THE point is to LEARN from someone with experience the system you like, have, was issued.

It would be best to not think of either system requiring a different linear measurement to work. Either Mil or Moa can be figured in meters or yards. Both Mil and Moa are angular, one good example is whatever lead you figure for a 200 yard mover is good enough for a 400 yard mover.(bullet velocity erodes over increasing distance but under 600 yards it is a nit)

So you can get wrapped around the axle if you try to always convert a Mil reading to cm, or try to shoot american ranges with meter distances.

Personally I like the MILdot reticle as not so fine it gets lost in lowlight, or with so many hashes I can lose count combined with a MOA turret that gives just a bit finer dialed on adjustment.

But I aint quite right...

The long distance precision world has a mil standard. Hunters use a MOA standard. If you're not married to either, I'd pick up the mil.

MRAD or MOA is personal preference.

1 MOA = 1.05in at 100yards
1/4 MOA adjustments means 1 click = .26in at 100yards

1 MIL = 3.6in at 100yards
1/10 MIL adjustments means 1 click = .36in at 100yards

Re: ok mrad vs the moa in the pst vortex

Mils make it easier if you are working with a spotter as mils are the norm worldwide and more universal. Nothing wrong with MOA either as long as your turrets match your reticle. In the past you would get a mildot reticle (mil) with MOA knobs which makes things more complicated. That being said, it's been used for years and years. Point being, make things easier on yourself now that optics companies are getting up to speed on the newest of 70's technology and pick a matching reticle/turret system. Then go learn and practice with whichever you choose. I think the concern should be more FFP vs SFP depending on your shooting circumstances.

Personally I wish I could afford to get a countersniper scope, they are coated in unobtanium. The reticle has MOA, MILs, IPHY, CMPHM, as well as a built in rangefinder BDC with eyesafe visible laser. Plus you can get turrets to swap out which ever one suits you best.

Re: ok mrad vs the moa in the pst vortex

Those vids should have helped you a lot. Basically, match your reticle to your turrets. this will save you time. I personally like the mil better, YMMV. I find it to be more precise and using it for range estimation is a plus. Couple a mil scope with a mil spotting scope and you and your spotter can make fast adjustments/holds at varying distances. Good luck.
