Glad I found this old thread. This is the first thing I had heard about old vs. new versions.
I have an old style chassis that I'm building a rifle around, using a Stiller SPECTRE action. Since it is an old style chassis, it has the metal slot for the bolt handle in the chassis, not the plastic slot from the skin. There is some interference between the bolt handle and the chassis, and I think we're going to need to slightly mill out the chassis to clear. Has anyone had to do this before?
Maybe clearance problems like this are exactly why AI changed the design....
Is it easier to just mill down the whole area, to make it like a new chassis , and fit it with new skins (which I kinda want anyway)? Does anyone have pictures / drawings that would show the difference between the old and new versions, so I have a better idea of what to cut?
