I will say NE is a darn good place. I would move there in a heartbeat if I could.

If you need forests in your life, drive a bit north through the sandhills (Another awesome place) and drop anchor (figuratively speaking) in the NE National Forest.
I used to make that drive from Rapid City to Cabela's back when there were only two stores.
Don't forget to stop at Carhenge while making the drive.
