Re: Olympic Arms 300 OSSM

PMP,
I have had one for several months now. I suffered through the first four months shooting the HSM factory ammo (the only ammo currently produced for it), which I found to be horribly inaccurate.

I finally got my dies from Hornady a few weeks ago and have been working on reloads since then. The best I am able to do so far is with 150 grain Pro Hunters pushed by IMR 8208 XBR at about 2950-3000 fps. With that load, I can get five shot groups in the 1.3-1.75 inch range. Not terrific, but OK for a hunting gun to be used inside about 250 - 300 yards. By the way, I been able to push that same bullet at 3200 fps + with the same powder, but accuracy falls of as I push above 3000 fps.

Other bullets I have tried have been 150 grain GameKings and 150 grain SSTs. You might be able to find some short ogive bullets in heavier weights that will work at magazine length, but 150 grain seems to be what this platform is best suited for. Even the 150 grain SST seated to magazine length has the ogive starting inside the case neck.
